About Me

I am a learner and a traveler and a dancer and an artist.
I've been getting more and more into meditation and mindfulness. Almost always up for adventure, tea, or conversation. 65/35 introvert/extrovert.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One day, a few years ago now, I woke up on a ship in a port in San Francisco which had been converted into a commune/living space where parties, lectures, presentations, and gatherings of all sorts take place. We had spent all night in a hot tub on the top deck looking out at the night lights of the city, talking and talking about crazy world adventures. On this rare occasion, I felt like I'd seen hardly any of the world, but I was hearing these people who had just met discuss the cultural differences of Istanbul and why Columbia may be the best place to travel for nature in South America. I thought to myself, 'If I'm lucky, maybe I'll convince them to keep me for a few months while I study for a semester in San Francisco', but the only reason this all came about was because I surfed with a crazy and wonderful man in Boston, who I stayed friends with, who had hosted this guy from Spain who, apparently through the suggestion of my Boston host, ended up moving to SF and is now one of the residents of this converted ship. Couch surfing is this wonderful network of generous people, which I am so grateful to be a part of. Look at these amazing things that happen from knowing crazy world travelers. Suddenly anything is possible. Open yourself up to those opportunities and the world is a fantastically phenomenal place.

So, though I've had bad experiences too, (yes, they definitely happen here) and I am not as willing as I was in the beginning to just let in anyone or stay with anyone for any reason (I mean, now I read the full profiles of everyone, and am wary of people who intend to use me, or have different intentions), the good by far outweigh the uncomfortable, and none have been so traumatizing that I forget how many good people I have met, and friends I have made. My traveling has been enriched by those people who are willing to open up their homes to complete strangers, expecting that the world is filled with mostly good people with good intentions.
