About Me

I'm an adventurous, curious and friendly creature who loves exploring new places.

Occupationwise I create animations and graphics for projects connected to environmental issues. It's my dream job and I'm grateful for it every day.

I live in a cute little flat in the heart of Kreuzberg, Berlin, and I'm also grateful for it every day.

I'm flamboyant, artsy, nerdy, sensitive, and silly! I like to think that I don't take myself too seriously and am capable of looking at myself with some distance and humour.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It makes traveling even more interesting and fun!
I also like to host, though I haven't had much time and space for it lately.

Interests

- I've been drawing and painting my whole life. At university I started to learn animating and completely fell in love with it. Now I can not only create images, but also make them move! It's pretty much my favourite thing in the world. I'm so lucky to be doing it for a living.
At the moment I don't have a proper online portfolio (will work on one soon), but you can see some of my works here if you're curious: https://www.facebook.com/smosienkiewicz/
- A couple months ago I started learning krav maga and I absolutely love it.
- I'm learning to make tattoos but this project is kind of on pause right now

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite genre generally is fantasy, especially urban fantasy. I used to really love Neil Gaiman and China Mieville. But it's been a while since I've read anything from them. A recent favourite is Engelsfors trilogy.

I used to try to be cool and fancy and read classic literature. And I did like it at the time. But if I'm being honest, at the end of the day I like Harry Potter more.

I really like all superhero stuff, always have. Especially cartoons. I'm just a sucker for everything animated. The world is so pretty in 2d.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working in a homeless shelter.

Demonstrating for women's rights among 30 00 people in the cold and rain when Poland's insane government proposed a barbaric bill. (Not that it helped much. The situation in Poland evolved from bad to horrible and I stopped following what's going on there because it's too upsetting. I live in Germany and never want to live in Poland again.)

Urbex, including running away from the police on a rooftop of an abandoned brewery and hiding from them inside pipes.

Naked bike ride through New Orleans!

But the more interesting question is: what's the next amazing thing I'm going to do??

Teach, Learn, Share

I can try to teach basics of drawing/painting/animation/graphic design.

I can tell you some things I know about krav maga/self defense, but I'm a total beginner myself!

I'm happy to learn whatever it is that you're willing to teach me.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: share meaningful experiences and convesations. That would be the best.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Company filled with real attention and curiosity about you as a human being.
I'll be bringing some artwork with me to give as presents to people I meet on the journey! ^_^
