About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I love creating awesome stuff that enables other people to create more awesome stuff! I used to work at Pixar on the tools for the animators and now I'm founding my own video hosting platform to help creators monetize their videos.

ABOUT ME

I grew up near Salt Lake City and after spending the past 8 years as a software engineer in San Francisco, I'm back home in Salt Lake, ready to share what makes this state so wonderful! I live with one roommates and a cat in a 4 bedroom house near downtown and am opening up the two spare rooms to awesome travelers from around the world! I also sometimes host on AirBnB to help fund my Couchsurfing habit, though I’m focusing on Couchsurfing at the moment.

I'm gay, so uhh, be cool with that.

PHILOSOPHY

I aim to make the world a more interesting place through art and technology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I'm able, and I love couchsurfing when I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is how I landed my dream job! I joined Couchsurfing on recommendation from a friend when I lived in Milwaukee and wanted to visit the Bay Area. I made some local Couchsurfing friends in Milwaukee who set me up to stay with a Couchsurfer they had hosted previously. I had a great time staying with them (much love, Sam and Ruth!), and they introduced me to a Pixar employee who gave me a tour of the studio in the East Bay. I fell in love with the company, applied, and got the job!

Interests

I LOVE card games and board games! My favorite are the obscure games that not many people play like The Farming Game, Tablanette, Hand and Foot and Knock. The best games are the ones that are quick and easy to learn, but that offer enough challenge to be engaging. German board games like Settlers of Catan and Carcassone are great, and I am always up for party games like Taboo, Cranium, CatchPhrase, Time's Up, Charades, Pictionary... I could go on...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving over the vineyards of wine country was pretty amazing. One of my friends has a plane and let me fly it once. That was pretty cool! Oh man, and that time I bungee jumped off a rope tethered 12 stories up between two huge trees!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know lots of card and board games. I'm also an excellent Freeline skater! If you're interested, I could even teach you how to write an iPhone or Android app!
