ABOUT ME
greetings i am diesel mechanic/artist seeking the next grand adventure and on occasion seek ways to procure funds on my minimalist existence. I own and operate a rather large 1 ton green Chevy bio-diesel veggie oil pickup complete with a hand built foam core fiberglass laminated truck camper with attached mountain bike rack formed from heat bent steel. My friends or just people i encounter refer to this machine as the Apocalypse. i supply myself with its contents as it offers me shelter and a place to keep my stuff. Despite the lack of interior space it returns the favor to me as a rent-less payed for mobile one bedroom studio apartment with all the fixins. it adorned with authentic vinyl trim, duel bedding, reserve batteries, drafting art table and a silverware rack fashioned from a stick in the rustic adirondak tradition and optional 4 wheel drive.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out." Always looking for new people to encounter new dilemmas to overcome and just plain strangers to talk with, life is about hardships and finding the motivation and power in yourself to trek over what may bring others down. at one point in our lives we will be at the bottom of the barrel. it is always imperative that out roots remain firmly planted, we must endevour to understand the cause of these roots, untangle them let them absorb the nourishmentsas we continue to grow and remember all those that helped us as we find a way to pay it forward.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
going to college i learned the value of couch surfing. it was my plan to stay off campus, perhaps it was a fear of people i did not want to know. i eventually bunked with them and learned how much every individual has to offer.
if i learned one thing, clean up aftermyslef, and learn how to cook for people.
Interessi
mountain biking, backpacking, sailing at regattas or just club races, Diesel engines, visiting art Museums, preparing a fine meal, vegitable oil diesel conversions, plant identification, polyvoltaic power, looking at animals in the wild, painting or drawing stuff and taking things apart with the idea that i might be able to fix them. at the very least it was worth the effort and the smiles and gratification i receive form a job well done is worth the trouble.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
i once dismated an old 1978 tarten 10 meter sailboat 20 miles offshore in lake ontario during the freeman cup offshore race. the wind was steady 60 to 80 mph gusts with 2 men on thew tiller and me at the jib and main sheets, our greatest fear was getting rounded up, where the wind would take over the helm control and result in the boat possibly rolling.
the pressure was ever increasing on the aging rig the boat moaned with distress, the wall of water astern that was out wake pushed its way into the pit with every rolling wave. i looked to Pete for enforcement to give hope to the grew. he was a strong experienced sailor, an individual that i have great respect. I knew him as a strong fearless risk taking individual but know how to get to thew edge fearing safety of the boat and crew. That moment i some how knew he was holding back a certain fear, as captain it was his responsibility to not show it. All i could do was feed of him and instill morale to the rest of the crew.
fatigue was the greatest opponent there were no brakes or time outs to consider what to do next. it was the unspoken word that kept us together. we were a seasoned crew that knew and trusted our abilities.
rearing it ugly head fatigue despite discipline has a way of eating at you, a sudden creek a shrill sound dissimilar to the familiar. within a moments notice the deck stepped mast hopped forward ripped the decking form its affixed location and toppled into the great lakes.
we were left at a full stop in the 5 foot rollers with the standing rigging still affixed to the hull. the broken mast slamed the hull with each wave. finally an opportunity to conference and come up with a solution to cut the mast free or figure a way to get it and a 1000 dollar racing sail back on board.
using the head stay and drawing it back around the aft winch Pete and i managed to heave the mask back on board. the only thing to do now was to motor in to Oswego ny yacht club
we discovered following the long haul back dealing with he rumbling diesel that we where not the only vessel to take on damage. just the only to loose a mast.
