ABOUT ME

To whom it may consurn.

It is official. I am going to Germany this summer. End of july 2009, I will head off to Goethe Institut in Schwäbisch Hall. I will be there for three months. If there is anyone around that area, please contact me, so we might meet for at coffee or drink, and I can learn about the local culture firsthand. I study tourism, so it would be cool if I could get experience the whole area both as a tourist and as a non-tourist.

But up to the end of july I will be working at a touristoffice in Ilulissat. So if someone is going to Greenland, Ilulissat, do contact me, or stop by the office of "Elke Meissner Greenland Tours." It is the red building in the middle of the city. Very easy to find :D

PHILOSOPHY

Understanding and patience promotes peace. I want to understand everything. I think all the time. My goal of understanding the world is all consuming.

Interessen

I am very interrested in movies. I watch a lot of movies.
I am also interrested in history.

But my greatest interest most be people. I am not saying that I am a very social person, but I do like new people. Learning a story or two about someone. To understand someone, one needs to hear the stories.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Movies, I love Movies. I have no preferences in movies. I watch every movie that is good. But I guess I can name a few, so that everyone has a referencepoint:
Star Wars, Godfather, There Will Be Blood, Patton, 12 Monkeys.
And don't laugh! I like Mean Girls very much. I don't care what you think! And yes, it is the one with Lindsay Lohan... I am usually very entertained by that kind of movies. I also like earlier Nora Ephron movies.
I am also very into zombie or zombie like movies. From Romero to Danny Boyle.
Everything else in between is good to :D

Now I have ranted about movies only. I read books too. I am just finishing "Memnoch. The devil." By Anne Rice. my taste in books is almost as wide as my taste in movies. I've read star wars books, a lot of Tolkien, but I have also read great classics such Homers The Odyssey and Melvilles Moby Dick. Harry Potter and Dan Brown books, I have also read.

The same goes for music. Very wide. Right now I am very into 60'ies protest music. mostly Bob Dylan, but also Janis Joplin, Joan Baez and sofort.

Basicly I am a nerd, in the classic meaning. I play chess and everything. Though, I rarely play computer games. But they are more geeky stuff than nerd stuff, yeah?

Oh, I have seen so many things. I am borned and raised in Greenland. Nature is amazing.

If anyone is interrested in learning about Greenland, I am more than happy to answer any questions. I can tell about Greenlandic culture today, Greenlandic culture before and after the arrivels of the setlers. I can tell pretty much about Greenland.
