About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding a mission worth having

ABOUT ME

So... I'm from Portugal. I've lived here for all of my life. When people first meet me and don't know where I'm from they never say I'm from Portugal, they always think that I'm from some other country, somewhere from the north... The Portuguese stereotype of a women with dark hair, eyes, and tanned skin, doesn't fit me at all. I would say I am a bit shy when I first meet people, but my friends laugh at me when I say this. What can I say? "I'm just a girl in the world", or at least wanting to be a girl from the world and not just from Portugal.

PHILOSOPHY

In the wise words of Ben Folds "Learn to live with what you are" and "There's always someone cooler then you" so just don't worry, be happy, if you can.

Or, we could go with Morpheus words to Neo on Matrix "Don't think you are, know you are!".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have found the CS Project only a few months ago because I read about it in a magazine. I confess I haven't done much yet, I'm still trying to figure this out. I have offered to show people around Porto and have talked to many friends of mine about this so they will become members... but, for now, that's about it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Again, haven't had much. I had the opportunity to hang out at the streets of Porto with a fellow couch surfer who contacted me. I ended up meeting two other couch surfers who live in Porto. It was my first and only experience so far and it was a really good one to start with.

Now I am going to New York and will be a guest for the first time. We'll see how that goes. I hope I turn out to be a good guest and not the guest from hell…

Interests

Reading, writing, seeing movies and TV shows and listening to music are some of my favorite things to do in life. I also love driving. I don't know why, I just do. I love motorcycles as well, but I never learned to drive themâ

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I can't really say I have one favorite, they vary every few months or years... But, I really liked "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Garden State", "Voices of a Distant Star", "5 Centimeters per Second", "Fight Club", "Big trouble in Little China"... Anything by Makoto Shinkai or Charlie Kaufman usually works for me.

Music: Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith, the Postal Service, The Bens, Ben Folds, Alexi Murdoch, Iron & Wine, Rufus Wainwright, Coldplay... things like that.

Books: that's even harder to say... I like books by Haruki Murakami, Isabel Allende, José Saramago, José Luís Peixoto, poems by Fernando Pessoa, Mário Quintana and so on and so forth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tokyo. One of the most wonderful places I have ever seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some dance moves, even though I am no pro at all. I can teach some "fado" songs, the traditional songs from Portugal. I can share some of my cooking skills and all of my stories, if you want to listen to them.

Countries I’ve Visited
