Hey there!

I am Pupul Lama and am 22 years old. My roots are from the northern part of India. I have been living in Uppsala, Sweden since two months for my post-graduation. I am currently studying International Humanitarian Action and have background in Social Work. Due to my education and social upbringing, I have an inherent inclination towards compassion and lending out a helping hand.

I have lived in many cities and studied in around 10 different schools due to my father's transferable job, making me super adjusting and friendly. I breathe music! Right from The Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Lana Del Rey, you name it! I am a voracious reader. I love to spend my free time reading with a cup of coffee.
Meeting new people is something that comes out naturally in me. I have friends all over the world. Ahem! I can be extremely resourceful that way . Also, I am trying a hand at cooking and I'm honestly surprised to see my cooking skills (could be both ways). I have traveled to many places and sometimes I feel like it has become an essential part of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was recently introduced to the concept of couchsurfing and i found it extremely interesting. I love meeting new people in different places and this seems like a fantastic way to build relations in different parts of the world. I sometimes travel solo and i could definitely use some company in a new surrounding. Also, in some ways it is an act of kindness and trust with good intentions, where you allow some stranger to live at your place. You always get to learn something new from someone and this is a good platform to create an impact/imprint in people's life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an assorted playlist but I'm open to all kinds of music. I listen to classic rock, alternative rock, blues, jazz, acoustic, live concerts, symphony, contemporary rock, rap. To name a few, I'm crazy about Led Zepellin, The Doors, Guns n Roses, The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple. These days im experimenting Mac Miller and some Indie artists like The Trip, Paperkites etc.

I'm not too deeply into movies but I enjoy watching TV series.

Reading during my free-time is something i look forward to. I prefer fiction over non-fiction and my favourites include Eco Umberto, Jeffery Archer, Dan Brown, Chomsky. I even like poetry and these days I've been reading poetry by Sylvia Plath

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can share one anecdote from the time when I and three other batch-mates of mine were placed in one of the Indian rural village during my Social Work bachelors degree. My classmates and I started “Gyan Jyoti” (Flame of Knowledge) an initiative majorly funded through crowd-sourcing, to open a library in the villages we worked at. It was a zero-budget initiative where books were donated by people. This provided the children and also the adults, an opportunity to look beyond their world of struggles.
