About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Just finished hiking the whole coast of Wales with my tent! So now I'm returning to my favourite pais - Colombia! To feel the joy, spread some smiles and learn Spanish and salsa.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Amelia. A thirty year old (!!!) from London/ Birmingham who has been lucky enough to save up my pennies and head out into the world to explore, see, share and experience.
I've just come back to Colombia because I absolutely love it!
Curiosity is my favourite trait. I get really overexcited about things and I'm super nosy to see how people live, what makes them tick etc. I'm a tad sarcastic sometimes. I walk as much as possible (unless I'm dancing). I also love escaping reality through theatre, reading, and daydreaming.
I find people endlessly fascinating, and believe in the generosity of other humans. I try to give as much as I am offered and so couchsurfing really appeals to the bit of me that loves to share experiences and help each other out. I like the phrase 'delicious ambiguity' - enjoying the unknown, and this is pretty much how I like to travel, on a bit of a whim, free to accept adventures and suggestions that come my way. So reccomendations and invites always welcome!
The world has had some scary and sad moments recently, I feel lucky to be able to experience some of the joy it has to offer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
CS is an amazing thing! I used to live in Lincoln and met up with the (very small!) Lincs CS community at least once a week, they became my best friends there, and some of the most interesting, open and fun people I've been lucky enough to meet - so far.
I've had a couple of more traditional surfing and hosting experiences, but am looking forward to many more in the next few months.
The thing I love most about CS is meeting people, finding out about their lives and really getting under the skin of a place. I love sharing experiences and ideas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every summer I volunteer for the Newman holiday trust, taking children with special needs on a week holiday. This sounds like the cheesiest thing ever, but it's genuinely my favourite week of the year, every year. It teaches me such an amazing outlook on life, the children are inspirational and grab all the good they can out of sometimes quite difficult lives.
Other than that, there are temples, sunsets, hiking trips, festivals etc.
There are too many things that could go here. I am a lucky girl!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about some basic behaviour change - especially transport, public health, sexual health and mental health related. I can also share info about fundraising, British food and the English Language. Mostly I can bring positivity with me and try to make you smile..
I'd like to learn about different customs and snippets of different languages and I would LOVE to cook some local food. Also language exchange please!!
