Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I am listening a lot to My Brightest Diamond, but my music preferences change frequently.

I love to read when I have the time! A day spent engrossed in a novel is a day well spent in my book :) I just finished reading John Ronson's "The Psychopath Test" a great non-fiction meditation on how we classify and treat mental illness especially in the media.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

About ten years ago, I was travelling in Ghana, and had the chance to hike up a mountain just outside one of the villages I was staying in. Once the group I was with reached the top, we had a chance to look out on the valley below. I remember hearing all of the drumming, singing, and music rising up from the villages below. I was very moved by the experience, and it made me realize how powerful a medium music truly is. It is because of that day that I decided to become involved in the field of music therapy.
