TEACHING AND DOING FARMING
I haven't accepted any volunteers since breaking out COVID 19. From now on, I have started accepting volunteers, PL helps our situation.
Hello, I am Puthy Ken. Live and work as an English language teacher in a countryside governmental secondary school, Takeo province, Cambodia.
I was born in a farmer’s family in the rural area. My father is handicapped and there are many things he cannot do. My mother is a farmer and also raises our livestock to help pay for and support our large family. I have five siblings who were all also students. It was hard to afford study materials and resources to go to school. I lacked transportation to school so that I walked to school. I chose to work on our farm and began my own vegetable garden to sell produce and make money. I used this money to support my own study. Because I worked so much I never had adequate time to study.
Today this is a struggle that many Cambodian children face, because I have gone through this experience first hand and overcome the challenges, I am inspired to help my students. I want to do everything I can help them. I want to influence them to come to class, give them proper study materials, and help them grow in and out of the classroom.
Moreover, the national curriculum of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport does not provide enough time
for high and secondary student to study English and Computer subject. Thus. it does not provide English and computer class for students at all governmental primary schools during the English language and technology is the most popular language for now day.
We have classrooms where most of our lessons take place, this is where you can teach the children.
I accept volunteers who wish to do short stay or long stay although long stay is preferred. I would be happy to give you a tour of our school and community at any time.
Moreover, I have own small farm where volunteer can work on it. So we need volunteer does farming with vegetable gardening and animal farm too.

I really love teaching and playing with kids. Especially,I would like to provide education what I have known to them. I want to help kids who are from poor familes who can not come to school the same as other students. Also, handicap students have the chance to study and work.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have taught and helped kids who are in Caring for Poor and Orphened Children Organization.
I have raised some funds to support water filters to make clean water for poor people and public primary school students in countryside.
I have raised some funds to support poor students school supplies at public primary schools in Cambodia ( Botoum Soriya school, Vihear Khors I & II)
I have volunteered in AWAYTEAMS of USA to rebuild the buildings of classroom at public schools in Cambodia.
I am a Founder of Agnkor Education Foundation.
I am a project coordinator of CPOC-USA organization to support poor and orphaned children' s education and build water wells for community in Cambodia.

Teach, Learn, Share

AS I HAVE BEEN A STATE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER FOR 13 YEARS:
I can teach how teach and take care young kids and how to motivate them.
I would like to learn new skills, experiences, cultures, new people.
I can teach Khmer language through my teaching method.
I share our cultures, transitional food, life experiences,
I can share history of Cambodia, Agriculture knowledge and reality of Cambodia

Our Location is between Phnom Penh city and Kompot town, Kept beach through National Road number3.
If you come to our center, you are also close to those places. I can recommend what when, and where should be visited and stayed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

-Accommodation is provided in an our own traditional wood house. We also have room for couple. The house has two floor, we sleep on the ground floor in a big room such as a hall.
-Room Stay: We provide only mattress, pillow, blankets, fan, mosquito-net ( We have no AC).
-Food: We provide two meals a day (lunch and dinner). Volunteer can eat transitional local food (our main food is rice). We also have food for vegetarian volunteer too.
-INTERNET: We provide internet for volunteer at our place too.
*This Angkor Education Foundation Center is not supported by any NGOs and Government. So I do ask $6 per day for a contribution of small budget towards operation cost such food, cooker, cleaner, electric WiFi, water, teacher salary, teaching and learning resources, daily using materials, and so on. I welcome all volunteers and look forward to meeting you. To make easily for our preparing, we would ask volunteer makes this cost at the first day of getting our center.

Otherwise, 0ur students and class do need teaching and learning materials such as crayon, ink, notebook, pen, color paper, marker, class game supplies, ball, music instuments and so on. So we are appreciate if you love to help and bring some kinds of those things for our students when you come our center.

-WORKING VOLUNTEERING DAY :
We have teaching volunteering groups and Doing farm groups:
* English Teaching Group (Monday to Friday):
- Morning Class: 8:00- 9:00am / 9: 15-10:15am
- Afternoon & Evening Class: 1:00-1:45pm / 2:00-3:00pm / 4:30-5:30pm / 5:30-6:30pm
* Doing Farm and Gardening Group ( Monday to Friday)
- We have duck, chicken,cow,goose,fish, and vegetable farm. So volunteer can work flexibly on both farms.
We suggest volunteer would help to teach and work on farm at least 2 hours per day.
We will provide schedule when you get our place.
* Volunteer are free on Saturday and Sunday.
-Free Time: Our place is in Takeo province has a lot of historical places and also is close to Kampot town and Kept beach where is a popular truism place in Cambodia. Our location is 50km from Kept beach and Kampot ( 1h 30mn by van) So volunteer can take public taxi to there or our volunteer sometime go together by renting a van to beach and Kampot.
However, If you don't prefer to the beach or waterfall, you can also visit many places in our Takeo town such as historical places, temples, local Killing Field, Organic vegetable farms in communities,hand productions, and our local traditional living such as producing palm sugar, plowing with cow, and so on.

-Address: We are not in Phnom Penh city but we are in Takeo town ( 68 Km from Phnom Penh, National Road#3, 2h by bus/car).
_The best way to get here: Please use my phone number call to me if you have Cambodian sim card. But if you don't have, you can ask Cambodian tuk tuk drivers/ any taxi drivers/people who you know. I am sure those drivers/people are kind to help you to call to me.
