About Me
There's something about meeting new people that fascinates me. The unlikeliness of any encounter makes me think of how we should just make the best out of it. Therefore I'm usually highly interested in knowing where people are coming from, where they're going and especially, what got them on their way. My kingdom for a good story!
Let's get to my story... I'm from Rio de Janeiro, but right now I'm living in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, where I'm working as a freelancer and studying to get a PhD in Design & Technology. Which is something I decided to do five years ago, and am truly enjoying. It changed my life entirely. From my address to every other thing I used to take for granted. As a byproduct I'm having the time of my life, getting to know new people and living a new reality.
I'd say that "WHY NOT?" sums up my view about "life, the universe and everything". It's a state of constant openness. Not that I agree with everything, but I'll surely consider anything. It has been taking me to unexpected places and unique people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
CouchSurfing started for me as a way of meeting people from abroad and practicing languages I speak. At the beginning, back in 2009, unfortunately I wasn't able to host anybody, but I had some chances to show some hospitality and give travelers a nice time while staying in Rio de Janeiro.
In march 2014 I went backpacking in Europe for three months and got to surf on some couches for the first time. Also, every time I got to a new city a looked for the closest CS Meeting, which I think is a great way to meet locals and experience the city in a less 'touristy' way.
Interests
I'm very passionate about art, but lately I've been more of the public/street art kinda guy. So I'll probably rather walk the city looking for street art, monuments, fountains, architecture and landscaping than walk into a famous museum or art gallery. Antique shops and flea markets are also welcome.
Recently boats have become a big deal for me. I'm working towards getting my boating license and in a future I'll be happy to have my own boat. So if I'm traveling I'll be very interested to go to the docks or go for a trip. A couch on a boat would be even better! If you come to Rio de Janeiro and want to go on a boat trip, send me a message and I'll go with you.
