About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit every bar in the world - at least once

ABOUT ME

I think I am a very easy-going guy and probably the least judgemental and most peaceful person since Mahatma Gandhi. I am not so interested in nature, my focus is on people and on a vivid city life.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life as agreeable as possible, and in the mean time try to be understanding and supportive for everyone else. Maybe I can illustrate that even better with a quote by Bertrand Russell that recently struck me:

"If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years."

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: Casablanca, Hudsucker Proxy, 2001, The Godfather, Amélie... well, generally old and modern classics (though I can sometimes enjoy some over-the-top action and gore, as in 'Die Hard' or the first 'Saw')

MUSIC: (Old stuff) Beatles, Stones, Sinatra, Dylan, Tom Waits, Cohen. Furthermore every song that is funny or ludicrous in a certain way.

BOOKS: Robert Heinlein, Kurt Vonnegut, Milan Kundera, Umberto Eco, Dashiell Hammett, popular science & philosophy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A village built under a threatening rock (the size of the village) in Morocco.

Ugly girls in Ireland that still insist on wearing bare belly tops and incredibly short skirts.

Mafia markets in Palermo.

Traffic in Palermo (no lines, no discernable driving directions, no respect for coating whatsoever)

Traditional Austrian dresses.

That Germans are actually rather friendly.

Streets in Lisbon.

"Look Left" - "Look right" - "Mind the gap"

Teach, Learn, Share

I think much hapiness can be derived from authentic interest in other people - I am myself still a student in that field, but I try my best.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
