About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn, live, discover, imagine, create

ABOUT ME

i'm slowly but surely making my way around the globe.. have crashed on many a couch but not yet through this couchsurfing bizzo..

its all about those random encounters and unplanned adventures.. thats what gives life its richness

I love reading, music, travelling, meeting people, watching.... I love nature, science, art, philosophy... I love eating all things with chopsticks and drinking hot orange juice with a teaspoon... I can't dance, can't sing, can't hold my liquer (but lord knows I keep trying -on all counts) don't really have a sense of style but I don't really care...

PHILOSOPHY

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science.
He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."

"It's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world.
Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst.
And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life."

"Seek not in the wide world to find a house to call your own; But where you chance to rest, call that your home."

Music, Movies, and Books

so many, heaps.. shit..

well i have to say, a well-worn copy of coelho's Alchemist has graced my back pocket through the years of rambling.. It's such a simple story but with such powerful reminders as to what its all about.. trusting, instinct, reading the omens, going with the flow, acceptance, love and love and love

other novels I have been reading lately include The Kite Runner, Cloud Atlas, Fabric of the Cosmos, The End of Mr Y, The God Delusion, Life After God.. WAY too many to list.

favourite movies include Natural born Killers, Fear and loathing, Shaun of the dead, Slither, What the bleep do we know, The electric universe, Tank girl, amelie pulain, American beauty, Spirited away, Edward scissorhands, Labarynth, Being john malkavich, Monty python, The darjeeling limited, Slumdog Millionaire

music.. haha. Ok, well included in my playlist RIGHT now (in no particular order)
Regina Spektor, Yesmen and bumsuckers, Paul Simon, Pete Murray, Beautiful girls, Tool, NIN, Pavement, 10ft Ganga plant, Okkerville river, the Decembrists, Devon Sproule, Sean Hayes, Sumblime, Matisyahu, Joe Hisaishi, Marley, The mountain goats, Kaki King, Dave Matthews, Billie Holiday, Tan Dun, Neko Case, Belleruche, Aswad, Beatles, The Waifs, Neil Young, Ani DiFranco, Trevor Hall, Beirut, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd

this might sound vague but I really do have broad tastes, I like everything - just haven't been exposed to it yet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

to other seasoned travellers it might not seem much, but after spending the first 21 years of my life cooped up on a farm in Australia I feel somewhat accomplished by the fact I've crawled, walked, hitch-hiked, cycled, driven, bicycled, ferried, flown, bussed, trammed, trained, horsed, and motorcycled my way through/around 28 countries in my last 3 years of rambling
