About Me

My name is Jimi, and I'm a regular host and occasional traveler! My current home base is a housing co-op in Eugene, Oregon, where I've settled after several years of semi-regular traveling. I've hitchhiked, squatted, driven, and train hopped many places. These days I travel less often, but still make time for a few adventures each year. I love exploring new places and meeting new people. These days I'm a member/organizer at the cooperative I live at, and I spend a lot of my time working on different organizational and DIY projects there. I occasionally throw punk house shows, have worked with Food Not Bombs, forest defense, and other fun stuff. I like spending time in nature whenever I can. I care a lot about the environment, people, and improving the world, and hope to travel to find places where I can be useful and meet like minded people. When hosting, I love to spend time with my guests, take them out on the town if I have time, or at least tell them about all the cool spots!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I spent 6ish years traveling off and on, mostly hitchhiking. I still travel, though less often, and am focusing on exploring outside of the US, and checking out places that I may want to move to next. And now that I've settled in Eugene and have a big mansion to offer, I'm super excited to be the host and give back for a change! I miss the road often, and love hearing stories from people who are still out there doing the thing!

Interests

I've got a lot of interests and hobbies, but I'm not really a master of anything. I'm flexible depending on my situation and who I'm around. I'm happy to just relax and talk, play music together, or get down to business with projects, or go on crazy adventures. I'm not super 'good' at most of these tags, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them! I really like doing art and DIY projects, exploring cities, exploring nature, drinking at pubs, cooking with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a pretty wide variety of music; punk, folk, bluegrass, hipster garbage, marching bands... When it comes to live music, I really like going to punk shows. I like scifi and cartoons, but my movie/TV preferences are pretty all over the place too. I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read much of anything besides comics lately.. I'm still a kid on the inside :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got hit by lightning in New Orleans once? Most of my favorite stories are pretty long, but I'd be happy to tell them in person!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some basic accordion, or how to do little DIY projects! I can lend wisdom from my time on the road or my time organizing, or tell you about cool spots or people I've met. I'd love to learn... just about anything, really.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've got tons of experience traveling and living with others! I'm a respectful & flexible guest, I'm always happy to help out around the house, work on projects, play music or make art, go out on the town, sit around sharing stories, whatever! And of course, I'll do the dishes!
