ABOUT ME
I'm a translator living in Luxembourg. I always thought that hosting people is more or less like traveling without moving from your house. That is why I joined CouchSurfing after some time as a Hospitality Club member.
I tend to think I'm shy, but many people I know don't agree with me. As I'm not very good talking about myself, I prefer that you read the comments left by my friends and/or guests. They may be closer to the truth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My experience has been mostly hosting visitors. Until now, all guests were very positive experiences. I used to give a hand translating the site, but...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A positive experience. All the guests that I have hosted happened to be excellent, interesting people. I keep recommending my friends to join the movement.
Interests
I know it may not sound very original but I like music, art, literature and cinema. I've studied languages and humanities, and I'm still interested in these areas of knowledge after so many years. If they paid me for it, I could spend the rest of my life learning languages and reading.
I like travelling, but I'm not so crazy about it as I was years ago.
I'm not against sports or chats about sports either (specially if the chat involves a beer).

Music, Movies, and Books
I cannot make up my mind about my favourites.
For the movies, I like the Marx Brothers and European cinema (if there is such a thing as "European cinema"). The film I've seen most often is probably "Singing in the Rain", but this doesn't make it my favourite.
Regarding music, it's quicker to name what I don't like: classical music, opera, flamenco and electronic music. It's not strange that I go to a concert even if I don't know the band at all.
As for books, I like everything with a touch of fantasy: from the European surrealism to the South-American magic realism. However, I also like short stories and some "classical" texts. One of my favourites is Melville's "Bartleby the Scrivener".
A list of authors I like (although I may also like many others): Raymond Carver, Boris Vian, Italo Calvino, Franz Kafka, George Orwell, Pere Calders, Jesús Moncada, Mercè Rodoreda, Gabriel García Márquez. Maybe the book that impressed me the most was Orwell's "1984". I would also recommend Vian's "L'écume des jours" to anyone.
