About Me
CURRENT MISSION:
Discover the world, meeting people from all over the world and understanding what's our purpose in life.
ABOUT ME:
I'm a PhD student in computer science at the Vrij Universiteit Brussel (Dutch speaking university in Brussels). In my free time, I enjoy traveling, learning lots of stuff about culture, life, languages (I'm particularly interested in artificial languages, and used to speak Toki Pona), and most of all, spending time speaking with friends about absolutely anything around a few beers and meeting new people. I think that every new people you meet can only bring you something more, whoever this person is and whatever he thinks: the world is made of different people, and it would be a shame not to speak with people based on the way they look, are, or think; speaking with someone who has a completely different opinion about you on a subject is always very interesting and allows you to see new points of view.
I currently live in a not-so-big appartment, with a place for you on my couch if you need to stay a few days in Brussels. I can show you the city and the good places to spend the evening.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people when I travel, share interesting experience and learn about the local life and culture of where I am. Doing a trip as a tourist, staying in hotels is easy, but you might miss the most interesting part of the country you're visiting: people. I think that couchsurfing is a way to connect with people of different horizons, all over the world, and allows you to get out of your comfort zone and discover a lot.
Note that I'm very new to couchsurfing, and have not yet any experience with it. I hosted and have been hosted by many people (some friends, some met the same day) around Belgium, it has always been a very good experience, and I'd like to extend this to the rest of the world :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most music, mainly music from between 1950 and 1980 (in any genre, from Johnny Cash's country to Pink Floyd's lovely psychedelic rock, passing by Art Blakey's amazing hard bop). I also enjoy more recent music, be it rock, punk, ska, dub, folk, or electro. I recently developped an addiction to folk rock/punk, through bands like Dropkick Murphy, The Pogues, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Flogging Molly, etc.)
My absolute favorite book and movie is Fight Club (watched the movie a few times, then read the book, very interesting read even if you have seen the movie multiple times). I also enjoy other sci-fi books/movies, as well as traveling stories (Orwell's Homage to Catalonia is very interesting, and movies such as Into the Wild are amongst my favorites), as it allows you to ponder about your tiny existence in this exciting, wonderful though sometimes scary, huge world.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
With only 1 pound left, with a friend we managed to get back from Dover, England to Brussels, Belgium by hitchiking over the Ferry. Also: came home from a party in t-shirt in the middle of one of the coldest Belgian nights (it was -18°C), it was a 40 minutes walk, but what 40 minutes! And that feeling you get when you're finally in a place with positive temperature, it's amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show you good places where to go in Brussels and make you taste good Belgian beers (the amount depending on how long you stay and what amount of beer you can drink in one evening :)).
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good stories, fun, and Belgian delicacies (beers!) :)
