About Me

I'm a pretty chilled out guy who loves new experiences and above all travelling. I was born in Johannesburg, moved to Rome when I was 5, went to a French school and went to university in the UK. I studied biology in Bath for 2 years before moving to Edinburgh to study Physics. After my bachelor I moved to Guatemala for 6 months to work in food security. I then moved back to Edinburgh to do a master in Environmental Protection and Management and now am working as a software tester. I'll be in Edinburgh until June and then I'm going to do the Camino de Santiago de Compostela and then travel through South America for a few months.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've known about couchsurfing for years, but until now I've been lucky enough to have had friends living in places I've visited. However, while when I'll be travelling through South America, I'll be going to may places where I won't know anybody and I figured that couchsurfing would be the best way to meet locals. I've joined 3 months before I leave Edinburgh so that I also get a chance to host people.

Interests

My main interest is probably dancing (but not so much clubbing). I've been dancing tango for around 5 years and blues for almost a year. I also love rugby and will really miss a Springbok game.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I finished my bachelor I wanted to do something new and after a few months I got the opportunity to work in Guatemala. So I went there not knowing anybody, to work in a field I was not familiar with and after having taken 2 weeks of Spanish lessons to learn the basics. The first 2 months were really challenging (not being able to communicate with my colleagues being the toughest), but it was all worth it because of all the new things I did and learned, and the friends I made.
