About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Mejorar mi espanol. Mieux parler le francais.
ABOUT ME
Rural house on 3 acres (1 ha) on Potomac River, 6 miles north of Harpers Ferry.
Car or motorcycle needed to get here and get around. If you can't get here, alternatives include:
C+O Canal National Park is probably cheapest if you have a tent: https://www.nps.gov/choh/planyourvisit/camping.htm
Cabins and sites up a hill outside Harpers Ferry: http://www.harpersferrykoa.com/
If you can get here, you can enjoy the birds, deer, trees, the river going by, walks in the woods.
Harpers Ferry has even more views of the Potomac and also the Shenandoah River. The Appalachian Trail goes right through Harpers Ferry. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal has level hiking and biking for many miles in both directions from Harpers Ferry or Shepherdstown (185 miles total!)
Come experience the turkey vultures, dogwoods, cedars, calls of doves, owls and woodpeckers. With a large library and warm fire, enjoy beautiful fall leaves, snow falling in winter, spring flowers, or summer sun sparkling on the river.
I've enjoyed traveling in Africa, Europe, Latin America, S. Pacific.
Retired researcher on housing and education. Retired president of county planning commission. Now researching global language courses (http://Lang1234.com), global warming (http://CO2List.org), US health care (http://Globe1234.info), Election security (http://Votewell.net)
PHILOSOPHY
Finding good solutions!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've enjoyed visiting and hosting CouchSurfers across the state and country, and meeting new people, learning a little about their lives. I look forward to practicing Spanish and French.
I encourage all English-speakers who travel abroad to join http://iamat.org, for lists of English-speaking doctors
Interests
I'm on the Potomac half way between Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown, both of which are 200-year old small towns, great to walk through, as is the C+O Canal across the river, and the Appalachian Trail
