About Me

Im Quin and the place I'd rather be is with you, experiencing new things and places, and meeting people. There are so many stories out there and so little time.

Im pretty relaxed, down to earth and LOVE to have a laugh. If I'm in the outdoors and experiencing nature Im even happier. Having studied the outdoors in NZ I have developed a passion for climbing, kayaking and tramping.

When Im not working or lucky enough to be travelling, I'm usually working fixing and building, day dreaming, doing leather work, in thr veggie garden, hoping the weekend involves a dress up party, hanging with friends, or climbing/kayaking. Im also a rookie homebrewer and enjoy make some of my very own delicious, cleansing ales :) I think drawings of dicks are pretty funny - just saying

I could exhaust the list of things about me but maybe we will meet one day and share more.

PHILOSOPHY

People, its all about people. Be a friend, be kind, open your mind and be spontaneous. I never want to become money driven in any way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A few of my best friends in the world and I moved to Queenstown and decided we'd love nothing more than having happy, amazing travelers sleep on our couch (2 never actually left) and allow us to contribute to their experience of NZ. We got so much out of hosting such amazing people and hope when I decide to travel, Ill be able to meet some pretty rad people too

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To be honest we have never had a bad couchsurfer since we started. Our guest have been amazing individuals and we still keep in touch.

Interests

White water kayaking, rock climbing, tramping, craft nights, homebrewing, travel, op shopping, dress ups, watching thunderstorms, enjoying evening sunsets. I'd be lying if I didnt put beer as one of favorite interests too. My vinyl player is my baby and I could listen to it all day long

Music, Movies, and Books

The Book Thief, The Alchemist, Into thin Air, Touching the Void, anything by Brian Thatcher
Rainy days are movie days and anything foreign, arthousy or funny is on the menu
Music - I like it all but love a little punky stuff - Pour Habit, The loved ones, NOfx, Mad Caddies etc. Vinyl is king though

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ok the greatest moment in my life was bouncing a dollar coin into a charity box (yes, the ones that have a groove only big enough to take a coin) on the counter of a KFC restaurant. I was with a girl at the time and said "Check this out". The bounce was solid and the coin went straight through. The girl and the service person were both speachless. I then proceeded to dance around the eatery like a mad man in a triumphant dance and beg the service attendant for the video footage. It was not given to me. If i tried this a million times over i bet it would never happen again. True story :) Ive also managed to hit a fly on the wall of my bedroom with a dart. That was pretty special.

But all honesty the most amazing thing I've done is enroll in an outdoor recreation diploma which allowed me to meet the most amazing people in my life and see some of the greatest places in New Zealand that not many people get to see. From the 8 day kayaking expedition around Great Barrier Island and mountaineering trek on Mt Ruapehu, to the caving trips and 3 week white water kayaking adventure in NZ South Island - it was the best 3 year of my life

What I Can Share with Hosts

A beautiful place in the vineyards in the hills. I have a few old bicycles yiu are welcome to use. If I'm around I'm happy to hang and show you around but if work calls I can point you in the right direction. A hot fire in winter and a comfy bed.
