About Me
I can't take on new surfers right now, but I'm happy to meet up!
***
Per the words of a good friend: "introverted and nerdy but friendly and personable." I'll take his word for it!
I write, I code, I travel when I can, I share stories. I'm 25 and starting to get my life into gear. I'm an amateur linguist and will talk to you about languages as long as you want, particularly historical linguistics. Adventures are my favourite thing, and what that means is always up in the air.
My languages up there are only quasi-accurate: English is my first language, French is my second and it's actually halfway decent. The others are things I'm dabbling in every so often.
I can be a tad quiet and do need time to myself from time to time, but give me an opening and I'll jump right in. I'm pretty unorthodox, inclined to do things just because they sound fun, have bright green hair, and am maybe a bit more enamoured with mischief than I should be. That said, I'm also passionate and love nothing more than feeling alive.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like sharing my community with people and helping people feel safe in unfamiliar places.
I also think that the importance of free movement cannot be overstated, so I'm here also to enable that and the free exchange of information. Travel is inherently a display of privilege, and I'm working on using that for good.
Interests
Languages, cooking and food, software, politics, board games, cocktails, good beer, fire art. I read like the world will end if I don't. I'm in the process of classical training for singing and have played the piano on and off for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music? I like music. Truly almost anything, but ambient, progressive rock, and bluegrass are favourites.
All of Tom Robbins' books changed my life. Les métaphysiques des tubes, also. Sci-fi and fantasy almost always thrill me. Deathless, House of Suns, Brave New World, all of Discworld, Wool, anything Neal Stephenson or Neil Gaiman. I'm in the middle of Infinite Jest and Gödel, Escher, Bach (I'll be here for a while, I know). If it's about a STEM discipline, I probably like it.
I tend to like dark, biting comedy and psychological thrillers. Fargo, Kind Hearts and Coronets, Black Mirror (okay technically it's a TV show), Office Space, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Dr. Strangelove, Serpico.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sang beautiful songs with strangers after five days on the road, learned the intricacies of lighting things on fire safely, looked around the universe's corners.
I know that was three, but most of my amazing things involve discovering unity with people where it was unexpected.
Teach, Learn, Share
Please teach me your language! I love learning new ones. I can share some music and tell you all about linguistics and fire art. I would also love to learn more about cooking from you.
Actually, if you want to teach me anything, that would be great. I love learning for its own sake and will try just about anything once.
I'd love to share music with you! I love to sing and would like to learn new instruments or songs.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm an adventurer at heart. I love learning new things, and if I've never done it before, I'll brave most new experiences. I can share a friendly, comfortable home, a quirky personality, introductions to my community, any and all of my myriad weird hobbies, and an openness to whatever curveballs life throws.
