About Me

My favourite animals are cats. My favourite language is Swahili. I enjoy wearing colourful socks.

After graduating in anthropology, I spent two years trying to teach "intercultural competences" to administration employees in Saxony. Then I had a child with my girlfriend, so I now spend most of my days looking after our baby daughter (while reading books, meeting friends, or interpreting at activist meetings).

I am a feminist and a vegan. Many people have tried to convince me otherwise and so far none of them succeeded, so I recommend you don't try unless you have something genuinely new to say. And if you are interested in discussing "Why every child needs a father"... I'm not.

Interests

I like learning to unterstand people. Furthermore, I am interested in feminism, languages, animal rights, different cultures, political action, theatre of the oppressed, literature, interpreting, and documentary filmmaking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy reading Tsitsi Dangarembga, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Paola Tabet, Nancy Scheper-Hughes, Mirjam Pressler, Juli Zeh, Margaret Atwood, Catherine Lutz, Simone de Beauvoir, Lila Abu-Lughod, Emma Goldman, and countless texts written by friends of mine.
At the moment, my favourite quote comes from a poem by Audre Lorde:
"I speak/ whatever language is needed/ to sharpen the knives of my tongue".
Among the few things that I can play on my ukulele are some wonderful songs by Amanda Palmer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a one-week-tour around East Germany with a feminist theatre group - while I was 9 months pregnant.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Swahili street language, vegan cooking and baking, or traditional southern German carnival dancing :-)

As far as learning is concerned, I want to improve my juggling skills and I am always interested in learning new words in any language/ dialect.
