About Me

Born and bred Aussie; avid traveller and writer. Loves genuine exchanges with local culture and people when travelling and am keen to go off-the-beaten track.

I'm easily entertained. I like to be outdoors and I love doing new things - like finding wild hotsprings and new watering holes, or trying my hand at new crafts like woodworking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people who make a holiday an actual experience. I'm all about hanging out with like-minded people, new perspectives and discovering local points of interest!

Interests

I absolutely love the water world, nature and animals. I scuba dive; am crazy about dogs; and am learning how to be a horticulturalist.

I'm a nut for ancient Asian history and inspirational great minds and figures. I am absorbed with social and spatial design, especially when it comes to gardens and areas for public use. I'm also a Taiwan adventurer and writer. You can check out my work on www.gdaytaiwan.com

Music, Movies, and Books

Harry Potter, Anthony Bourdain, anything about history, and pretty much everything Little Pensive Society has read (LPS was a book club I created - you can ask me about this when we meet!)

Music: Birdy, The Black Keys, Royal Blood, Ben Folds, Massive Attack, Radiohead, The Strokes, The Beatles, Muse, Instrumental. I'm learning Chinese so my music has been saturated with Chinese songs of late.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked alone from Taipei to the other end of the island and stayed up more than 18 hours to see a boat get set on fire on a beach at dawn. The Boat King Festival in southern Taiwan is a Taiwanese religious event that occurs only once every 3 years!

Teach, Learn, Share

Well if you ever find yourself on the back of a scooter in Taiwan or pretty much anywhere in Asia:, this might come in handy:

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm open to share my life stories with you - what it's like to study in a foreign country, learn a new language at 30+, how to care for plants, how making a blog in Taiwan led to a new career, and where's the best food in any place I've been...just ask and I'll try my best to answer.
