Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Striving to create heaven on earth. Existing beyond time, space, matter, and description. Existing in a dimension beyond the grasp of us mere mortals. Which is to say; on the Internet.
ABOUT ME
I have learnt that I am me, and as myself that I can do the things I like to.
Which in itself is reason why I do the things I like to do, and then I write about them.
PHILOSOPHY
I live my life the way I do because it is better than any alternative ways of being I have explored, and certainly better than the alternative of not living.
I try to make the most of my capacity to enjoy life, by working towards ideals from first principles and seeking the moments when those ideals change (whether spontaneously or deliberately).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My child once told me, with the sort of gravity only five-year-olds can muster; "I enjoy doing good things for people because I'm nice." so I try to follow his example which is wise beyond his years.
Mostly I do this by trying NOT to be overbearing, overwrought, overstressed, overzealous, or generally unpleasant to be around, but if I'm really tired and grumpy I need to eat something or be by myself for a nap, or both.
Because I am human, this is not always possible, but this doesn't prevent me from trying to be better every day. :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only hosted couchsurfers and it has been a most pleasant experience.
I've never surfed using Couchsurfing myself yet. I have couch-surfed a lot independently though, especially with friends who let me surf their couches when I visit or am return from travelling or camping.
Interests
I usually need to put my brain in gear before engaging life. Anything written in Comic Sans grabs my attention, especially circular reasoning. Additionally, I would not have spent so much time on the internet if I'd known it would degenerate me to the point that I'd scarce be able to do anything else other than spend so much time on the internet.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most science fiction including practically any book by Alastair Reynolds, Issac Asimov, Larry Niven, Michael Swanwick, Bruce Sterling, Jerry Pournelle. I enjoy the anthologies of science fiction edited by Gardener Dozois.
The last movie I truly enjoyed watching was Dark Star, after it was recommended to me by a friend.
I enjoy all sorts of music but have a predilection for electronic music, whatever is the flavour of the month really.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In reverse chronological order: getting my piloting license, getting my SCUBA-diving license, getting my skydiving license, getting my motorcycling license, getting my driving license, getting my poetic license.
Does seeing and being on the Internet count as being amazing? I think technology and information is pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
People who understand what their exceptional talents are, people who are confident in themselves and know what they can do and what they can offer society are just good to be around, and you can't help but admire and try to learn from their example.
