About Me

!!!!!!!!!ABOUT COUCHSURFING!!!!!!!
As of 15th of May 2020, the management of Couchsurfing has decided to make the website into a paid/subscribe service. It names Covid19 as a financial threat and asked "the community" to step in. To achieve this, they set up a paywall, effectively blocking out thousands of users from their profiles, depleting them from their contacts and references without so much as a warning.
This is unacceptable. I will leave CS after 12 years of building friendships and experience.
For me, these are the 2 outrageous points: First, 15 USD/year or 2,50/month mean a huge amount in some places. Second: How dare they appeal to the community after making everything worse in the past years? (From taking away groups to focussing their marketing on advertising free accommodation – and many other moments, where they completely ignored the mindset and wishes of the community?)
Even the intransparent way they are ransoming people into paying now shows their utter disregard and misunderstanding for their own users and product. I'm def not financing flawed and misguided management like that. Let’s move our critical mass somewhere else.
So while I will leave my profile up as long as Couchsurfing lets me, but I’m not going to use it anymore. I will move on to other communities like https://www.bewelcome.org/ which is free and driven by the community.
Move day to beWelcome is at 1.6. as an organized event: https://www.facebook.com/events/3396960000331577/

My beWelcome profile can be found at https://www.bewelcome.org/members/r-hold please contact me there

++++++if you have trouble logging into your cs account because it´s behind the paywall+++++++
type this into your browser: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/YOURUSERNAME, then click on something and log in when asked to. worked for me and others, but don't know how long it will.

At the moment I am working in Berlin (weekdays). On the weekends or holidays, I might be in Hamburg, Berlin or somewhere else. I can host In Hamburg or Berlin (if present)

I just returned from a very exhausting Job in Bangkok and am trying to recover from that and looking for my next direction in life. I also learned in my time abroad how much I love my hometown Hamburg and would like to share it with you.

My flat is undergoing some changes at the moment too, so this means I might or might not be able to host you. However, I will gladly show you around. I consider my self to be an expert about exploring Hamburg from its water-ways (kayak, stand-up-paddling, whatever), alternative culture, food and some aspects of nightlife.

CURRENT MISSION

get my rhythm going

ABOUT ME

I think i am a very laid-back and open-minded person, with an intellectual yet witty kind of humor (sorry, but in german only). Although sometimes a bit shy, which others may misinterpret as beeing harsh, I enjoy beeing with interesting people. One might say, that i have a typical northern german character: featuring understatement and overcooledness

PHILOSOPHY

Zu viele Blumen wachsen nie!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted a few times. My first experience was, that most people were more into getting a free place to sleep, than making a couchsurfing experinece by getting to know each other. Overall thats ok with me, but i would prefer it the other way round.
