Overview
About Me
Hi friends~
I'm Rachael! I’m a third year UCLA student studying music industry, gender studies, and communications.
The goal is to say yes as much as possible. I'm spontaneous and open minded, and I love to collect new/unique experiences. The people I try to surround myself with tend to be witty, intelligent, and unafraid to be themselves.
Food, music, and film are three of my biggest passions. Being born and raised in LA has definitely taught me to appreciate life's oddities and to never stop exploring, which has evolved into a compulsive need to travel whenever I can.
As for most of the time (when I can't travel), I try to get out as much as I can and take advantage of the awesome art and music scene in LA.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to have friends no matter where I travel.
If you're looking for a host to chill with, if I have time I can definitely show you around LA or party with you at night. My best couch surfing experiences have been when I got to interact with my host. If you're just looking for a place to sleep, also cool.
Interests
Right now I'm teaching myself guitar, so I love fooling around and playing music with my friends. I could spend hours finding new artists/bands and reading music blogs. I also love writing, comedy/improv, good movies, a good meal, and traveling. I'm a pretty big TV fan (some of my favorites are Arrested Development, 30 Rock, The Office, Transparent, Parks and Rec, Portlandia, House of Cards, Louie, and Black Mirror). Most of all though, I love to explore LA and go to as many events as I can

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now I'm big into the lo-fi punk and garage rock scene (Ty Segall, Together Pangea, Shannon and the Clams, FIDLAR, Hunks & His Punks, The King Khan & BBQ Show, etc.) Also into psychedelic, experimental, rap, rockabilly, bluegrass, and the list goes on. Would love to talk bands with you.
Some of my favorite movies are Harold and Maude, American Beauty, There Will Be Blood, Annie Hall, Shawshank Redemption, Her, Pulp Fiction, Fargo, and so so so many more that I'm forgetting
My favorite books are anything by David Sedaris, Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, and East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacking the UK and Amsterdam with my two best friends and driving up the West coast from LA to Seattle
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to swap music, movies, books, or travel stories with you! And if you're a fan of deep, philosophical conversations, I could have those for hours.
