About Me

I'm a texchno punk who moonlighted as an elementary school teacher for the last two years in New York City. I absolutely loved the children I worked with but hate the system and red tape that continually perpetuates the cycle of poverty in America. I think that teaching, when done well, is a form of high art. I worked to teach my students English through also teaching them photography. If you want to know more about that - ask me!

I'm currently on hiatus from teaching and living in Mexico City. I'm working on developing my own skills as a photographer and am in the seedling stage of creating my own curriculum for English Language Learners that is arts and sustainability based. (Always looking for collaborators!)

Have a look at some of my photos: https://www.rachaeluhlir.com/

I love exploring cities by bicycle, learning any and all new styles of cooking, dancing and collaborating on art/music.

This summer I will be traveling in :
Paris 6/3-6/7
Berlin 6/7-6/21
Portugal 6/21-6/25
Paris 6/25-7/3

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While it is hard to have an "authentic" experience traveling in a foreign place for a short time I would like to have as close to that as I can. I love meeting new people, traveling, and hate capitalism! ;-)
