Hi! My name is Rachel and I'm 21 years old studying French at Glasgow University, but I’m currently on exchange in Montreal. I'm a super fun and chill person. I have a huge love for drama, film, dance, theatre, music and drinking. . I partake in hobbies such as swing dancing, Japenese Taiko drumming and making (not fantastic) short films. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to really get to know the real side of a city or country and I think that couch surfing would be a really good way to do that! I'm travelling around France and Italy this summer and I would love to get a real feel of these places.

Interests

I've been part of a drama group ever since I was very small and with them I have performed many a musical in a variety of places. I love to perform, sing and dance, I've even performed on the West End in London.

I also love film and am a bit of a film buff. My friends and I have been making and writing films together for ages and I could show you (although they aren't very good) some films I have made on Youtube. I can spend hours discussing my favourite films and directors.

I am an avid festival and gig goer as well. The UK has some amazing festivals and i would love to try some more around Europe and the world!

I also love to dance, go to the gym, cycle, go for runs and hikes!

Music, Movies, and Books

Like most people, I love all kinds of music. my favourite style would probably be rock including: The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, The Clash, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Jamie T, Jeff Buckley and The Kings of Leon.I also love Anthony and the Johnsons, Benjamin Clementine, Beyonce, De La Soul, Fauve, Father John Misty, Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Frank Sinatra, Jurassic 5, Kendrick Lemar and Otis Redding and more!!

My favourite film is The Shining or Rocky Horror Picture Show but there are too many more to mention. I adore Wes Anderson too and more of Kubrick. I obviously adore old musicals such as Guys and Dolls, Singing in the Rain and Mary Poppins.

I love the classic novels such as Catcher in the Rye, The Colour Purple, Slaughterhouse 5 and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. I'm a real fan of dystopian novels such as 1984 and more. At the moment I'm reading The 100 Year old Man who climbed out of a window.

I climbed and watched the sunrise over Machu Picchu with some friends and it was amazing!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am looking to improve my conversational skills in Italian, French and Spanish. I would love to improve my language with anyone having got a clear grasp of Spanish during my travels and both Italian and French while studying at university.

I also am a good singer who would love to improve more or just show off some of my skills haha.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a great cook, I love to cook a mix of vegetarian and Vegan meals but I do not have a strict diet so I am open to try any sorts of foods. My specialities include falafel, some kick ass soups and a variety of bakes and casseroles. I also make a mean carbonara. Did I mention that i am an avid baker and can rustle up some cup cakes or brownies in a second. If we get the chance too, I can bake you an amazing fruit crumble (fruit with a crumbly biscuit topping)

I love to sing and although I can't technically play any instruments i love to jam and sing with new people. I have also been learning guitar slowly as well.

I am generally an outgoing and relaxed person who loves good conversation and sharing my stories and experiences with others.
