About Me
Everyone calls me Ray!
I grew up along the gorgeous coast of California, under the redwood trees. I moved to Seattle in 2011 for college, and besides a brief stint in Durham, NC for a failed attempt at graduate school, have been here ever since. I currently work three part time jobs to pay the bills and save for grad school attempt #2. I'm an aspiring writer and future educator. In the fall I'll be starting a Master's in Education specializing in outdoor and experiential learning. I spend my spare time bouldering, hiking, reading, and watching movies with my cats. I'm also attempting to master the ukulele and to take up tap dancing & ballet again.
Lets get to know each other!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love love love movies and books! My special interests in books are in the area of Young Adult lit. I think this comes from the fact that these were truly the first books I ever fell in love with, and also because I want to work with teens for a living and these books really dive into this amazing, confusing, beautiful time of life. Some of my all time favorites are Eleanor and Park, How To Build a Girl, Far From the Tree, and so many more. I also love dystopian novels like Fahrenheit 451 and The Giver series. I'm also a big fan of poetry, namely Mary Oliver, Andrea Gibson, and Denise Frohman, and am always looking for more recommendations!
My love of movies was passed to me from my dad, so naturally I love sports movies, space movies, westerns, and anything with Julia Roberts (dad's favorite actress).
