About Me

I'm Rachel, a soon-to-be college grad from the University of West Florida that loves going to new places and meeting new, interesting people. I'm all about the local experience and want to live like the locals, wherever I am. Art is something that is very important to me, so getting to see a local art scene is one of my main goals when I visit a new place. Also being able to enjoy a local coffee shop rather than your usual Starbucks is something else I really cherish. I'm new to couchsurfing right now, and I'm hoping to change that soon.

Living in Milton, FL, currently which is about 30 minutes from Pensacola, FL. If you're passing through and would like to have someone take you to some nice local spots in Pensacola let me know! I would love to show you around.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm graduating college very soon, and before I get caught up in a professional job, I'd like to travel and see more of the world. I don't want to get stuck in the town I grew up in, and being able to cut costs of traveling by couch-surfing would help me out a lot.
I aim to be a traveler and not a tourist. So staying with locals would be awesome because they can show me the ins and outs of their city, and not just the typical large tourist sites that everyone knows about.

Interests

I have very many interests so I will talk about the ones that first come to mind now. I mentioned art early (I am a studio art major after all). I love animals! So if you have pets I won't mind at all, but you'll have to make sure I don't try and smuggle them out with me when I leave, haha! I also love the outdoors, even though I'm trying to be okay with bugs, but nature trails and beaches are places that I enjoy going to very much. I love history and getting to be in historical locations of cities. Downtown areas are very exciting for me. I also love live jazz music, or really any kind of performing arts as well. Local, local, local, I am all about the local places. Coffee shops, restaurants, farmer's market. Please take me to them! I also like to cook, and I'm willing to try something new at least once. There's just so much out in the world that I can't wait to experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have many favorites, but my top favorite music is definitely on the alternative/indie side of things. My favorite movie is Silence of the Lambs. The book I'm reading right now is The Hobbit and so far it has been an amazing read!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well the first thing that comes to mind is the time I got to go to Sapporo, Japan, for the Ice Festival. It was so amazing to see the larger than life ice sculptures in negative seventeen degrees.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm, well I do enjoy doing yoga, so I could probably show you a few poses. I'd love to learn about your life and the city you call home (don't forget to take me to that local coffee shop ;) ). I also have an eno, which is a portable hammock, so if we go anywhere with trees I wouldn't mind hanging it up and sharing a relaxing break with you. It can hold two people at once!
