About Me

I’m currently living in Kaohsiung, Taiwan working as an English teacher and completing a masters in International Business. I’ve been living in Taiwan for 2 years now, and I’m loving exploring and getting know different parts of Asia. I’ve traveled quite a bit in the past, but this is my first long-term experience living abroad, and it’s been an overall amazing opportunity. I love learning about other cultures, and experiencing them first-hand is even better. I'm a sucker for the arts: film, literature, music, and visual arts have all seemed to capture my heart in their own way. I also love going out and trying new things in new places while taking on new challenges, so I don’t like to always be caught up in a book or movie. I love animals, and I was a vegetarian for 8 years, but I returned to eating meat because it seemed to inhibit me a lot while I was traveling. I still love vegetarian and vegan food! Overall, I just want to meet new people, see new places, and build a life of happiness and no regrets.

PHILOSOPHY

"Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently participating in Couchsurfing only as a traveller, but I hope to serve as a host in the future as well, possibly within the next year!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I’ve had this profile for 4 years now, but I have not put it to much use. Hoping I can change that while I’m living in Asia and traveling around!

Interests

The arts, of course. I love to paint and draw, and I do a little bit of writing for myself. I've spent the last few years or so practicing film-making and I will hopefully be able to make a career of that somewhere along the way as I travel. I love animals and children, but I don't plan on starting a family of my own for quite some time. I absolutely love to shop, and I love fashion. But other than that, I generally prefer to be outdoors. I’m always down to climb trees and mountains or sail down a river or swim in the ocean. Nature is definitely one of my greatest passions. I enjoy cooking as well, on occasion. I like to go out once or twice a week to grab a few drinks, socialize, and even dance if the occasion calls for it with both friends and strangers. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. I really think that intelligent, intellectual conversations are the best means to broaden the mind, but some laughs here and there should always be involved too!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love everything from classic films to popular modern films to indie films. Some of my all-time favorites are Moulin Rouge, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cruel Intentions, Amelie, Une Femme est Une Femme, American Beauty, Guys and Dolls, and many more.

As for music, I like quite a wide variety of genres as well. I can jam to anything from the Beatles, to Frank Ocean, to Bat for Lashes, to the Avett Brothers, to Regina Spektor and I really have a soft spot for Sting and the Police haha.

I find that I'm mostly interested in classic literature but every once in awhile I'll stumble upon a modern work that's worth reading. Among my favorite books are Wuthering Heights, anything by Kurt Vonnegut, The Alchemist, Harry Potter, anything by Shakespeare, 1001 Nights, the Vedas, anything by Edgar Allen Poe, E.E. Cummings, Robert Frost, and Charles Bukowski. I'm currently getting into the classical Russian authors like Tolstoy and Nabokov.
