About Me

Hey !

My name is Rachel, I'm 24yo and I'm currently studying and living in Grenoble, in the French Alps.
I'm studying applied foreign languages because travelling is one of the things I love the most and one day I would like to be able to work and travel at the same time. Before then, I'm travelling as much as I can.
I took a two year break in my studies in order to travel, mostly in Latin America (3 months with my friends and 4 months on my own) and a bit in Europe (I've been a volunteer in an hostel in Budapest, did a road trip to Switzerland with my friends, etc...).

I went back to university last September and I'm enjoying again student life. And when I'm not studying, I'm going out with my friends, watching Netflix in my pajamas or dreaming about my next trip !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard about it a lot from fellow travellers and would like to try it, because discovering a new place through the eyes of locals is so much better. And meeting new people is one of the most interesting part of travelling !

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to any music, depending on the mood and the place !

I love a lot of TV shows, from Friends to GOT, Dark, Shameless, Money Heist, The Handmaid's Tale, etc...

It's hard to tell my favorite books because I read a lot but of course I've read the Harry Potter many times, if I had to choose a classic French author it would be Emile Zola and I'm fond of Paul Auster's books and Jorge Semprun's writing style.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the chance to watch Mt Fuego erupt during the night, from a basecamp on Mt Acatenango in Guatemala. It was really special and it was worth going through the tough hike (for untrained people like me) and the cold. I can still remember the lava exploding and going down at the bottom of the volcano.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm open to anything from sharing our cultures to simply having a good time !
