Hello! I’m Rachel, from Florida, and I’ve been traveling since I was under a year old! I love adventures and following my unique path. I lived in NYC for a few years and now I live in Carrboro NC, working on my Master of Public Health degree from UNC.
I’m passionate about: public health, sustainability, local food (and food in general), fitness, yoga, music, podcasts, hiking, rock climbing, traveling, cooking, plants, culture, meeting new people and learning new things. I like to keep busy and moving, and I am very outgoing and unapologetically myself. Let’s share stories!

I prefer to be a real traveler, not just a tourist. CS has given me countless cultural opportunities to see a different, and superior side to traveling and I’ll never go back. I have been able to go so many places thanks to this site, so thank you!! CS is about meeting new people, learning a local perspective, saving money for more important things and giving others that same experience when I have the ability. I have had great success from Couchsurfing on four trips and counting and made amazing friends, and also with hosting. I love this idea.

Gotta include the side note that I’m not using CS for dating or romantic purposes and don’t plan to, so please take this seriously :)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Survived dozens of very sketchy motorbike rides and hitchhiking endeavors in Southeast Asia, and slept in some temples. Eating the weirdest foods. Being on national TV several times looking stupid. Breaking rules and not getting caught, a lot. Graduating from University of Florida in 3 years. Oh no, that’s more than one!!

My degree is in Health Education and masters studies in Health Policy, so I know a thing or two about public health, as well as personal finance, and sustainability. I am skilled at being frugal! I can teach you about NC, Florida or NYC life! I'm still learning, but can definitely share what I know. I can cook for you, I can teach you how to make soap, about herbalism (using plants as medicine), or we can go on a hike! I like to show people how to live their mission. Let’s chat about anything!
