About Me

Hi there! I'm Rachel, a recent university grad from the east coast of Canada. I recently moved to Seoul to teach English. I've traveled a fair bit - I've studied in the UK, spent a few months in Bolivia, and been to a number of cities in Canada and the US. This is my first time in Asia, so I'm interested in seeing new places, trying new things, and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested in meeting new people who are living in or visiting Seoul, and hopefully finding some people kind enough to take me in when I travel to new cities.

Interests

I'm a bookworm and a beer-lover. I also love travel, hiking, language-learning, yoga, and food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favourite authors are Jonathan Franzen, Zadie Smith, and Haruki Murakami. I tend to read a lot of contemporary fiction, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons, so if you're also a bookworm, I'd love to hear your genre fiction/nonfiction recommendations.

I loooooove Motown music, and oldies in general. Some of my favourite current artists are Alabama Shakes, Tallest Man on Earth, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and Basia Bulat.

I'm not much of a movie buff, but in general I tend to go for comedies. It's not exactly a funny one, but one of my favourite movies I've seen recently is "Inside Llewyn Davis" - I loved the music!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most amazing experiences abroad was swimming under a waterfall in Cuevas, Bolivia. I've also hiked Mount Snowdon in Northern Wales, danced all night in Paris, gone adventure caving in rural Korea, and traveled the east coast of Canada by motorcycle.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately, I can't offer a couch to crash on as I'm currently living in a rather wee bachelor apartment, but if you're living in or visiting Seoul, I'd be happy to join you for a bite, a beer, or a quick hike up a mountain!
