About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A year away from work to explore the world. Have had so many amazing 'unofficial' couch surfing experiences on this trip I thought it was time to make it official!

ABOUT ME

Aparently I smile a lot, its my reaction to most things, so I guess that means I don't take life too seriously, or look on the bright side, or enjoy the small things in life...all of these things atctually!

But its easy to smile with a year away from work to explore the world and meet just a a few of its fabulous people.

PHILOSOPHY

You can make more money but you can't make more time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, for now I'll be looking for couches to surf and cool people to meet while I finish up my journey in Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Unofficial via random meetings with people who understand how wonderful it is to sleep in a real house, with a real kitchen and real locals, after many months on the road. Some of my happiest holiday memories.

Interests

Being outside - walking, running, riding or just sitting in the sun.

Reading, any book will do, and writing, my travel blog has become one of my greatest pleasures.

Food, making it, eating it, sharing it, accompanying it with a nice bottle of wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wes Anderson is my favourite director by far - The Royal Tennebaum, The Life Aquatic, The Darjiling Limited, great characters, great music, great humor.

Have a soft spot for the classics Jane Eyre to Jane Austen and a secret fettish for acoustic guitar and fiddles in the form of country and blue grass music.

I bought cowboy boots in Nashville.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driving from Banff to Jasper along the Icefields Parkway in BC, there were so many views I didn't know where to look. Tourquoise lakes and snowy mountains as far as the eye could see, and all under a clear blue sky.

Rio during Carnival - the craziness of Lapa and the sunsetting over Ipanema.

Teach, Learn, Share

It can get itchy in South America - mosquitos, bed bugs, sand flies...lime juice stops the itch :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Guatemala, Japan
