ABOUT ME

My friends would say that I am down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I make people feel at ease from the moment I meet them. I find that I am an optimist in many situations. I see the good in everyone and try to focus on those characteristics. I think there's something I can learn from everyone.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to the couchsurfing site. But I have stayed with families in Honduras who were as welcoming as can be. I can't wait to use this site to faciliate the experience.

Intereses

I love connecting with people of all different cultures. I also like playing ultimate frisbee and guitar. I love singing and making up harmonies. Often when I hear songs and feel the music, I will start to beat box or tap out a rhythm with my hands. I feel most alive when I am hiking in nature and the sounds of civilization fade away.

I love to travel. I lived in Paraguay and Honduras, each for a summer. I was working on community projects that fostered youth leadership in th communities with an organization called Amigos de las Americas. This organization sends high school and college age volunteers to Latin America. More information can be found on the website at amigoslink.org.

When I arrived in the small community of San Jose Boqueron in Paraguay, I was nervous and could hardly speak the Spanish I had studied for so many years. But, one teenage boys was a guitarist and brought out his guitar. Everyone's mood lightened. My fellow volunteer mentioned that I too played guitar. Before long, I was playing the only thing I knew how to play: American Pie. The Paraguayans loved it. They loved the tune and the beat even though they didn't understand the words. And before long, I had become a welcome member of the family.
