About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting lost

ABOUT ME

I loved life in London, but decided to finally do-the-do (instead of just daydreaming about it) and quit work to sod off to Central America in January 2011. Still going.

PHILOSOPHY

The more I travel, the more I realise:

1. it's the people that make the place

2. the giving's often better than the getting

CS seems to perfectly encapsulate both

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was basically just involved in the social side at first - keeping the bar tab healthy at weekly CS drinks while living in Cusco and then Rio - but I've since stayed with some cracking hosts in BsAs, Rio and Fiji. I'm travelling indefinitely at the mo, but as soon as I have a roof back over my head, I'll make sure I have a couch to share, too

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met too many ace CSers on this trip not to get properly involved. My first wave of hosts have been amazing - looking forward to meeting many more, and hosting surfers myself once I'm back in London

Interests

Practising my dodgy Spanish, taking photos, following the sound of drums, hiring bikes, finding flea markets, MARMITE, proper cups of tea, pub quiz picture rounds, pottering about getting lost, keeping up with Caitlin Moran's columns online, trying unidentifiable food, any form of live music, cheese, or red wine

Music, Movies, and Books

I've never seen Star Wars.

I can still do the 'rap' to TLC's Waterfalls.

I'm identifying with Elisabeth Eaves' hobo-y ways in 'Wanderlust'

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We (well, I say we) made a raft and sailed it 8 hours down the Manu river to take ayahuasca with a reclusive Peruvian shaman. (Nearly) blew my mind

Teach, Learn, Share

I've written (true!) stories about real people that are stranger than fiction... just ask, I'll tell all.

Despite trying to learn Spanish for ten months, it's still nowhere near as good as it should be: podemos practicar?

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
