About Me

Hi there! I am a creative and curious traveller searching the world for lovely people and interesting stories.

I smile a lot and have a very bubbly personality. I am very progressive in my ideals and I'm passionate about my opinions. I say what I mean and I am very honest. Really, I'm an open book.

I'm into making collaborative art and seeing live music if that's your jam.

I'd really love to learn more about how to garden and farm my own food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Trigger Warning: physical and emotional abuse

I was in Richmond, VA for seven years after highschool while I attended school and worked. My mom is a flight attendant, so she instilled in me a love of travel at a young age. As an adult, I can no longer travel with her for free so I'm hoping to save up for a van/bus to fix up this coming year so i can travel as I please!

This past year I went to New Orleans, Louisiana with a partner. While there, I was in an accident and broke my arm and my leg. I spent a month in the hospital, and was in a wheelchair for seven months. To aid my recovery, my partner and i moved to southern Florida so I could utilize the healing powers of the ocean. Unfortunately, the partner that I relied on for care during my recovery was not a great guy. He used his control over me in very unjust ways, drank far too much, lied to me constantly, and even threw me out of my wheelchair once, leading to a hospitalization. As soon as I felt confident enough to walk on my own, I reached out for help and got on a train back to the DC area without him.

Although my body is mostly healed (I can walk about a mile at a time a couple times a week,) my mind is not. I am definitely still recovering from the trauma so i don't really "party" much and I thrive in a quiet space with access to nature. I love people, but my capacity for socializing is pretty low right now. I'm hoping to find a quiet place with good company that I can read, study, paint, work, or even feel safe enough to close my eyes and meditate.

I am looking to find employment in the Richmond area as soon as possible to save up for my van and my next semester of college. I am looking for a safe environment to rest, recharge, and grow my confidence again and become the empowered human I know I can be!

My father recently was forced to sell our home in Northern Virginia due to COVID and chronic health issues, so I don't have a safe place to land now that I am back in the area.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Americana, Jazz, big band, early electronic (think very German), and of course 90s emo. I have an affinity for kinda haunting music with warbling and such so I am exploring Moog and New Age music. I like a little bit of everything and have especially soft spots for 70s-80s rock, southern metal, and classical music. Some favorite artists include Bright Eyes, The Magnetic Fields, Regina Spektor, Jinsang, The Avett Brothers, Mason Jennings, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Queen, The Beatles, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Martin Denny, WILLOW, The High Kings (I love Irish music) Eartha Kitt, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong, Miles Davis, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Shocking Blue, Fleet Foxes, Brand New, Ingrid Michaelson, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Lady Gaga, He is Legend, Andrew Jackson Jihad, The Mountain Goats, Miley Cyrus, Benny Goodman and lots more.

I'm getting back into the swing of reading, but right now I'm reading a nonfiction book about Shamanistic Practices relative to Witchcraft. I read a lot of non-fiction but i get down with a novel here and there. Sucker for the Beat generation and "counterculture" as a whole. Also, Sci-Fi and Fantasy.

As mentioned a couple times above, I love the Game of Thrones universe. Some other shows I enjoy are Dexter, Avatar the Last Airbender, Sabrina, American Horror Story, Midnight Gospel, Naruto, Maid, Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, Glow, Shameless, You, Atypical, Sex Education, Black Mirror, Big Mouth, Rick and Morty, Feel Good, Ozark, The October Faction, and just about any 90's cartoon.

Movies I enjoy include The Love Witch, Girl Interrupted, Practical Magic, Chicago, anything Robin Williams, Fight Club, Titanic, the Harry Potter series, anything Morgan Freeman, anything Wes Anderson, and Disney/Pixar.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I LOVE crafting and making art! I always love making things with people. I am a pretty good cook, and I especially like to cook and eat Asian food! I brought a few tasty recipes home with me from New Orleans as well.

I have lots of stories to tell, and I love discussing big ideas about the universe, consciousness, the concept of god, and the human mind. If you like to dive deep into ideas and the world, we'll probably make good friends. I have some experience in facilitating psychedelic therapy sessions and plan to go to school for a certification for Psychedelic Assisted Therapy in the next year or so. If that's your cup of tea, I also enjoy growing medicinal fungi.

I used to barista, and I can make coffee magickal. I also study flowers and herbs, as well as the spiritual beliefs attributed to them. I make mojo mags and other magickal things, usually to attract positive energy and the like. I make custom beauty products and things as well.

Honestly, I'm very open minded so I'd love to experience new things as well. Once I have income, I'd love to have a buddy to join a rock climbing or acrobatics/adult gymnastics gym with at some point in the future. In the meantime I'm trying to do more yoga and meditate more often. Throw some ideas my way and the chances are I'm in for the adventure!
