About Me

Hi! My name is Rachel and I am currently a student at the University of Kentucky in the United States. I've been traveling since I was young, and I try to go abroad once a year. I have lived in Hungary for a total of about 6 months where I worked at a party hostel as a marketing intern. I love to travel, cook, and go on adventures. Meeting new people is my favorite part of traveling, and I love coming back from a trip with a whole new list of friends from all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel quite a bit, and as a student staying in hostels every time can get a little expensive. I am on couchsurfing not only to save a little money, but also because my worst nightmare when it comes to traveling is checking into a hostel only to find that its full of other Americans. I want to be able to meet new people from other countries, and not hang out with the kind of people I could have met at home. What I am most looking forward to while couch surfing is getting to immerse myself in the local culture and get an authentic experience!

Interests

I am the kind of girl who is up for anything! I love last minute adventures that take me to cool places. Want to get on the next train to Hungary for a music festival? I'll bring the snacks. Want to go drink underneath a famous landmark at 3am? I'll grab the wine. Traveling is all about doing the things to do in the place to do them, so Im always down to try new things! One particular reason why I love to travel is the food. If you're a foodie, we'll get along perfect! Show me your favorite restaurants, teach me your grandmothers recipe for a dish thats been passed down for generations. I'll love every second of it!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to just about any type of music, but classic rock is my absolute favorite! Favorite bands include Creedence Clearwater Revival, Styx, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doobie Brothers, etc. I also really like the Wombats (I've seen them 8 times), Panic at the Disco, The Avett Brothers, and Cage the Elephant.
I have too many favorite movies to count, but my favorite TV show is Supernatural.
Favorite books include What I was doing while you were breeding, Life of Pi, Harry Potter, and The Man in the High Castle
