About Me

CURRENT MISSION

laugh and eat my way around the world

ABOUT ME

HELLOOO HOLA BONJOUR TO ALL!!!!!! I'm Rachel and I'm in love with the world and everything it has to offer, I'm 20 and want to meet people and places I know nothing about.. I haven't done a mon-fri 9-5 shift in 2 and a half years and I like it that way :) I started travelling when I was 18 starting with Canada where I learned to snowboard, partied way too hard, bungee jumped, had 4 different jobs, learned some French and made friends for life. Now I've just finished working on the beautiful canary island of La Palma as a member of the animacion team in a wonderful hotel where I was really living out my dream job :) now I'm touring good old Spain :)

PHILOSOPHY

do what makes you fucking happy!! that's IT. make time for yourself and do the things that make you feel wonderful! :) try not to worry about the things you can't control, you don't need to understand everything, i don't think life is meant for that, take it as it is and ENJOY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

eager to experience new people and places.. friendly girl and great listener (especially about someone's culture or any stories they have from childhood/home/travelling) and maybe one day if i settle down, i'll host people too

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

couchsurfed twice and loved both times! best thing is cooking with your host and having a laugh about life

Interests

first on the list is making friends for life whilst travelling, there is really NOTHING like it, meeting a perfect stranger from a totally different background to you and then pretty soon not being able to imagine your life without them. i also love cooking and learning new recipes, music (concerts), theatre, dance, walking, the beach and more food!

Music, Movies, and Books

i pretty much like all genres and i'm starting to watch more world cinema now but i guess some of my favourites are into the wild, dogfight, the shawshank redemption, rent, the object of my affection, the beach

music, again i will listen to absolutely anything, it just depends on the song what i like, for instance my favourite broadway actress and jazz singer is lindsay mendez, then again i love rnb/hip hop/rap like the weeknd, drake, frank ocean. i listen to chart music, some house, some golden oldies, whatever's going!

books - shantaram by gregory david roberts (its nearly 1000 pages though so make sure you have time ;)) and growing pains - the autobiograpy of billie piper.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i'd never worked with kids before my job in animacion in the hotel, i got made responsible for mini club for the summer season, needless to say i was doubting myself and my abilities being only 20 without previous experience, but i tried my absolute hardest to know and take care and every kid that came to us to have fun on their holidays, i absolutely loved every minute even though sometimes it was very stressful and felt too much for me, but i managed to just breathe, think and be responsible, have fun, fall in love with kids, have the time of my life and from all the good comments we'd receive from the parents and tears from the kids when it was the end of their holiday, i know i did a good job which i'm proud to say because sometimes you need to recognise that you're amazing and say YES, I DID THAT! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

embrace all of your amazing qualities and others too.. and try to see the good and positive in things, it makes life a lot more happier and easier! do things that sometimes scare you, trust people but be aware that you can be disappointed sometimes (i'd rather trust people and be let down than go through life not trusting anyone)
