Overview
About Me
After graduating last year I have slowly been trying to figure out my life. I have a degree in music but spent most of last year working full-time with kids with autism. Now I am mostly teaching and playing music, but I still nanny part-time. I write songs and gig around as a multi-instrumentalist - basically can be whatever kind of musician people need me to be in order to make a few bucks. I was homeschooled until college (so beware of the awkwardness that will certainly ensue) and I also danced most of my life. I love the outdoors but I live in the hellish Midwest where I basically cannot go outside without getting my face ripped off for 5 months of the year, so I try to make the most of the summer by getting outside and being active. Being alive is great and so is meeting other people! I am generally a positive person that loves being social but I also have my moments of being very introverted and needing to lock myself into a corner of my apartment to write a song.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When traveling in Europe this summer I decided it would be much nicer to stay with people in homes than in hostels! I have two sisters that backpacked through Europe for 4 months and they did a lot of couch surfing and absolutely loved it. I am hoping to meet some cool people who may even give me pointers about what to do in the city!
Interests
Music is basically my life. Cello is my main instrument, but I also play piano, guitar, and ukulele, and I teach those instruments as well. I play classical music but am also a singer/songwriter, and am happy to be making music (or just be around music!) of any kind. I am new to traveling (have only been out of the country once to play with an orchestra in Cuba) and I am excited to meet all kinds of people and get out of my comfort zone. However, I plan on at least bringing my ukulele because I would go crazy being without an instrument of some sort for more than a week at a time.
I also love watching movies/shows on Netflix, hanging out with my sisters (I have 5 of them), having drinks (who doesn't love drinking?), making and eating food (I'm big on the eating part), being around animals, children (I know, I am one of those weird people who actually LIKES kids), taking dance classes of every style (ballet, hip-hop, swing dancing, pole dancing).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Performed at the Teatro Nacional de Cuba with the Havana Orquesta for the CubaDisco festival; coolest person who performed with us was Omara Portuondo!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Anything musical that you want to know! Do you have an instrument laying around you have always wanted to learn? I can show you some chords on the guitar or help you make sense of your keyboard! Or I can play/sing you a song if you like live music. If music is not your thing I can hang out with you and…do your dishes!
