About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to experience what I can while I can. I want to see things that will open my mind and experience things that change my life.

ABOUT ME

I'm 20 years old, and a student at the University of Memphis studying Education. I am very laid back and have never had a problem getting along with anyone, literally, I've never been in a real fight ha ha! I am a talker, definitely, and I'm not shy. I can be a bit silly sometimes, but it's all in good fun. I'm not a picky person by any means, I'll eat anything at least once and my socks may not always match, but who cares, they're just socks! I plan to travel to world with my little friends Benji and Frankenstein (my lovable wee dogs) and my fiance Anthony. I am studying education and hopefully will have some opportunities to put it to use somewhere in my travels. The peace corp is a future plan as well, no time set just a goal to achieve, teaching English as a Second Language would be great. In the meantime while I'm in school, however, I just want to explore my surroundings and meet some interesting people!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what everyone does everyday that makes up who they are, no matter how they choose to do it. Some find who they are by trying to become some one else, maybe they think some one is cool or successful, or selfless like mother Teresa, or why ever they admired that person; while some find it by spending time alone or seeing and experiencing the world. Everyone finds themselves and lives life in many different ways. It is not a matter of a right or wrong way to do it, it is just doing it, just being. Everyone has a place in this world, and the experience and the impacts they make of finding their place in this world is what makes life.
Humans are a special type of being, our ability to have a conscious and critical thinking along with our moral intelligence are what makes us different from other living creatures. This is why we have so much diversity in our lives. It goes from a macro level such as our race and cultures, to a micro level of our communities and home life, and to what I call “super-micro” level which is our inner-personal lives, what goes on in our heads and makes us to what we do.
Humans have a primitive instinct deep in our subconscious that is survival. Our survival as a species is best accomplished through interacting with other people and forming some type of community in which everyone has the same goals. Our entire planet, in the extreme macro sense, is basically one huge community; inside of this community you find a smorgasbord of people: doctors, janitors, accountants, musicians, travelers, factory workers, car-salesmen, leaders (from presidents, emperors, and kings to office managers, mayors, and business-owners), etc. I could go on till who-knows and every single piece of the puzzle are necessary to come together in order to make one big picture that lives and flourishes and changes.
Everyone has a choice in how they live their lives. Charles Swindoll said, “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react.” So there are infinite number of ways a person can choose to live their life based on one action, but their reaction is what determines it. The choices we make in our journeys through life makes us who we are. Some people choose to go to school, get a job and get married and raise a family; some choose to go to school and then spend their lives traveling and experiencing the world, and some do a combination, but all of these ways of living still make who we are and all are parts of what makes up our world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a host with my fiance, Anthony, and our roommate, Adam, for about 3 years now. I am also a large advocate for CouchSurfing to my friends and family and people I meet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted several people from all over the world, people from: all over the U.S., Germany, Australia, Austria, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Russia, Italy, France, Denmark, and Sweden. I have only surfed once, in New Orleans, LA. I love just chilling with people and hearing about who they are, what they do, and what they've seen.

Interests

Cooking, music, dogs, traveling, meeting new people, seeing new places, trying new things, eating new things, like I said earlier, I'm not a picky person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've ever seen was once when I was making my bi-weekly trip back to my hometown of Ripley, TN to spend time with my family. I was headed down especially early this trip, 5am to be exact, and I was driving past several large fields (lots of farmland) and there is a cemetery between some fields. I have always seen it there before, but it was special that day. The sun was beginning to rise so the sky had a beautiful orange and pink glow, and it was a cold winter morning with a dusting of snow that twinkled in the light and a thin fog was lifting up. The best part of this scene was a Virgin Mary statue standing in the middle of the cemetery with her arms held out.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I have become very interested in dog-training, I have trained my own in several different tricks but I'd love to learn more and love to give some tips as well! Other than that I'm open to just about anything though, I'd love to learn whatever I can and my brain is open for picking if there's anything in it you need or want to know!
