ABOUT ME

I have always wanted to travel and see living in Costa Rica as the first step on the ladder. I teach and intend to work around the world. Generally, I like meeting people and finding out what is similar and different about us as individuals and as products of our societies. I am typically Irish in that I will talk to anyone about anything, especially if there is alcohol involved. I read a lot and like things that take me beyond the everyday, Haruki Murakami, Douglas Coupland and Margaret Atwood are top of the list. I like playing football, frisbee, cricket, volleyball, badminton etc. all in the context of friends at the beach/park as opposed to with a referee and a sponsor! I also spin fire poi and would love to meet up with others who can teach me new tricks.

PHILOSOPHY

I concur with the dearly departed Doctor when he said

"To sleep late, have fun, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested."

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am lucky enough to live in SJ so have met lots of fellow cs out and about. I have had a party attended by several cs and I have FINALLY had some people to stay. So, at the moment I participate in cs by taking the opportunity to meet as many people as I can!

Music, Movies, and Books

Again, I kinda jumped the gun with books. Music- am a MASSIVE fan of Devin Townsend. Like Tool, A perfect circle, NIN, Mike Patton, Primus and a whole list of other stuff ranging from Creedence Clearwater Revival to reggaeton (blame CR). Films? Ok, Coen brothers, Peter Jackson, Frank Miller inspirations, Tarantino and again, this could go on for hours so I'll leave it at that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This requires thought, I will fill it in after pondering..ok, have pondered enough. Swimming in Lake Garda in the middle of a massive storm and being blown away by the beauty of the Alps. Then, realising camping in a storm isn't really all that much craic and running to catch the last train barefooted and wearing a bikini, hoodie and obligatory heavy rucksack.

I'm adding climbing volcanoes and toasting marshmallows in lava in Guatemala although I am aware this goes against the 'one amazing thing' instructions.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can chat for hours about history (you prob want to avoid this), I can spin a little bit of poi and have dozens of ridiculous games I play with the kids that are fun when drunk! I want to LEARN....
