About Me

Graduated from college in '15. Been jumping around every several months since then, mostly as a teacher -- once on a sailboat teaching environmental education (I wanted to get paid to learn how to sail!) -- another time at a middle school via AmeriCorps. Finished a year teaching English in Korea, now have spent half a year in Canberra. Looking to do some traveling in Australia before I head back to the states!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like traveling and meeting new people, seeing parts of a city I wouldn't be able to see.

Interests

I'm really into writing, reading, music (both listening & making), going out and about, dancing, spending time in nature. I'm also into fitness and nutrition, but definitely one of those people who knows way too much about it but then fails to live up to it, lol. I like cooking and also trying new foods. Living in Korea was amazing for that! I love the outdoors and am definitely hoping to be near the ocean while I can here in Australia.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: It changes all the time. I'm really passionate about music and could talk about it for hours, and also make it when I have time.

Movies: I enjoy 'em, whether it's a stupid comedy or something more thoughtful. One of my faves is the 2011 version of Jane Eyre. So lush and mysterious and menacing and yearning.

Books: A mix of comfort reads and complicated, ~emo~ literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've sought out a lot of weird and interesting things, so it's hard to limit it to just one. I'll list a few:

- met my biological family in Korea after nineteen years apart
- conducted research on entrepreneurship education in Kigali, Rwanda
- lived & worked on a sailboat
- got funding to go on a road trip to Area 51 to write a novella about aliens + critical race theory

Teach, Learn, Share

I write, play five instruments, sing, draw portraits -- but I think my main skills are just that I observe a lot, I always try to have interesting conversations with others, and get along as best I can with a broad range of people. I usually can find the fun, weird parties, I have a wide range of friends and interests, and like planning outings.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share: stories about my travels and experiences -- a fun night out -- warmth and friendship!

Countries I’ve Visited
