About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue learning about the world and how we educate ourselves about it

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty laid-back; an ovo-lacto vegetarian interested in learning about most every topic. I watch films and TV whenever I can force myself to sit still, but mostly I walk around singing to myself and playing with kids. I've spent 18 months at a Christian camp and retreat center, I've been a lifeguard and I am currently teaching English in Ecuador through the Peace Corps. I keep working to improve myself as well as the world around me in any way I can, and I love to learn about new perspectives, new topics and new things in general.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to live my life so that when I arrive in Heaven, God will not be disappointed in the way I've tried to use the gifts I was given to bring joy to those around me and glory to God. I will always make mistakes, but I am hoping that the passion and good intentions I try to have will bear me out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined Couchsurfing today because my sister has always had wonderful stories of meeting fascinating people through it, and now I want to have a go!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as of yet, but watch this space for more in a few months!

Interests

I'm a teacher and camp counselor by background. I've lived abroad and traveled to 30 states in the continental U.S. I have a love of music, so I play the trombone and I sing. I am also learning to play the organ and I've been a churchgoer all of my life. I am interested in the study of religion, music, education, cultures, language, politics and geography in particular, but I like to learn something new every day, so I'm hoping that the people I meet will at least bring a new perspective to my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy Paolo Cuehlo's books and I've read the Bible all the way through several times. I enjoy the films "Saved", "Dogma", "The Shawshank Redemption", "El Cid", "Only Angels Have Wings", the "Dark Knight" trilogy as well as "The LORD of the Rings". I will listen to almost any kind of music, although I'm not a huge fan of most popular R & B nowadays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went for a horseback riding trek for 2 days with one of my best friends and a Tibetan guide. It was a magical experience, and I'm so glad I did it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an English teacher and camp counselor by background, so if you've ever wanted to learn how to build a fire, canoe a river, build a geodome using long branches and rope or entertain 50 small children for 2 hours using only your voice and a few balls or plastic dots, I'm your woman!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My baking skills. I love to create delicious desserts for those around me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Germany, Portugal, South Korea, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
