About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm passionate about SO many different things! I'd love to get all of the knowledge of the world! I think I'm quite a renaissance person... I couldn't focus on one thing in my life ;)
People - I'm most interested in people - their opinions, attitudes, feelings, hobbies, choices, thoughts... I hope that thanks to my studies - psychology - I could invent something that could make our lifes easier, better, more enjoyable.
Animals - I think they deserve respect and I respect them, as much as I can. I love animals, admire them as living beings and wonder at their brilliance. I'm often touched by the injustice that affects animals and makes them suffer. I don't eat meat, even though I know it won't change anything.
Other things in interests ;)
PHILOSOPHY
From "The Fellowship of the Ring":
Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Usually, I'm so enthusiastic about different things that I end up tired and overworked. In my opinion the best way to relax and load your batteries is getting to know new people and new places. It's like being in some other world, which is so fascinating and unexplored.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm a beginner at couchsurfing, but I have a great experience from multi-cultural language courses that I obtained in London and Uppsala (Sweden). I've experienced the atmosphere of open-mindedness, acceptance and tolerance. I received warmth and sympathy from people from different countries and distant cultures. It was wonderful :)
Interests
- music - I play piano and love going to concerts. I enjoy rock or even metal gigs as much as classical concerts. I enjoy performing music and immersing myself in the complicated world of piano pieces...it's something I couldn't live without.
- psychology - it's actually my way of living. I'm trying to see things from different perspectives and analyse matters not only from my subjective point of view. I love seeing that the things I learn about, really work in reality, especially, when they make life easier. Although I'm against psychology in media, which often influences our choices, and I'm also against manipulation in experiments. I believe in renaissance attitude towards people - accepting and wondering at humanity.
- photography - the hobby that I've gained from my mom ;) I have some experience in photographing landscapes and cities, and I still learn how to capture people. Here are my pictures - http://martah.deviantart.com/
- art - I'm actually interested in every form of art. I enjoy visiting museums and galleries, watching amazing paintings from a very close distance; I like watching plays in theatre and participating in different festivals (like FETA in Gdańsk or Shakespeare Festival, which I'm volunteering in). I'd love to go to places where many cultural things go on...

Music, Movies, and Books
- Movies - still making up for the backlogs. I'm rather doing different things outside home, so about year ago I've seen Matrix for the first time ;) anyway, I love stupid american comedies like American Pie and this type of humour (Borat and Bruno as well), but I adore also darker movies with a deep meaning (Thin Red Line is one of my favourites). I'm a crazy fan of the Lord of the Rings ;)
- studying psychology doesn't leave me much time to read other books. Tolkien, Goethe and some of romantic literature are my favourites
- music - from late romanticism till modern classical music (Tchaikovsky, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Ravel, Prokofiew, Szymanowski); rock and metal, Finch is my best band ;)
