Über mich

ABOUT ME

Energetic, excitable, passionate. I'm always smiling and couldn't sit still or shut up to save my life. I hope you like to listen, cos stories which begin with "so long story short..." are usually very misleading!!! :p

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spent 12 months in Europe backpacking around a ton of countries and couchsurfed five times. I moved to Newtown in January 2014 and have found a home in the Inner West (which is full of weird and wonderful people, cafes and bars, with a very chilled vibe!). I hosted several times in 2015 and had a ball - it was almost like travelling, except this time they came to me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had several couchsurfing experiences, both good and (unfortunately) bad, however I remain positive about the concept and practice of couchsurfing and will give it another crack next time I'm on the road. I also think CS events are great - I moved to Sydney at the beginning of this year and needed to find ways of meeting new people. I went to the CS Sydney drinks and it was packed; that night I met and exchanged deets with 5 different people, which led to becoming good mates with a quirky Belgian and a reggae festival where I met the craziest mofo I've EVER met, and have continued to meet weird and wonderful people ever since.

Interessen

After coming from an area which has no night life to speak of, I moved to Sydney in Jan 2014 and happened to meet "the right people" at a reggae festival, who have opened my eyes to the sickest underground warehouse party scene! I love the high quality electronic beats, the abundance of costumes, and the freaks they attract!

I'm a total lover of nature, the plants on my balcony are my little mates and I take pleasure in watering them and keeping them alive (I'm getting better at it... :/ ). I want to do heaps more camping this summer cos I feel a real peace leaving the city and getting back to nature. I have a friend who took me on survival bush camping recently and I'd love to do that more often! No other people anywhere around, the bare essentials, just good company and good shit all around you!

I'm originally a Coastie girl so I love the beach, although I don't go so often these days. I love travelling, meeting new people, having random experiences, music festivals and just chillin' with awesome peeps.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I haven't done much reading since travelling or while at uni. I really need to get on that...

I like a bit of everything. I'm really into electronic music these days but dont many of the producers by name. A few that I've been introduced to this year includes Nico Stojan, Dirty Doering, Britta Arnold (sensing a German theme?? Yes, my mates are German), Simon Caldwell..yeah I don't really remember anyone else. Gimme dat deep house!!!

Bands & artists I like: Radiohead, Jake Bugg, Flume, Rufus, Disclosure, Glass animals, Rudimental, Florence and the Machine, Boy and Bear, Kite String Tangle, Chvrches, Lana Del Rey, London Grammar, Andy Bull, The Preatures, Chet Faker, Ed Sheeran, Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys (SAW THEM LIVE IN 2014)!!!!), The Script, Adelle, Jeff Buckley, The Verve, Panic! At The Disco, Powder Finger/Bernard Fanning.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Left the country on a one year journey with no plans or itinerary to speak of, save a ticket to London and a one week booking for a hostel in London. Travelling solo meant I could go anywhere, anytime, and when I felt I'd have enough I'd pull up good ol' Google maps and decide where I wanted to go next, jump on a bus and flee the scene.

There were some countries I wanted to go to, but never made it to, and others I never dreamed I would visit, and fell in love with. I met some of the best friends I'll ever have on that journey. I lived a life that most people will never experience and it was more than I could have ever imagined.

It was truly the most incredible, character-building, exciting, challenging, perspective changing, enriching year of my life and I will never forget it.

Maybe one day I will throw caution to the wind, quit my job and do it all again...

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Did you know that the phrase "daylight robbery" was coined after the introduction of the windows tax in England, France and Scotland at the end of the 17th century, where you were required to pay tax on the number of windows in your property? Those who couldn't afford to pay the tax boarded up their windows, thereby having their 'daylight robbed'. You can see some of these bricked up windows in London - I saw/learnt this on an excellent free tour which leaves from Green Park at 11am and (I think) 3pm each day :)

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

I like to think I'm very entertaining lol I talk a lot, but I like to listen too. I love hearing about other peoples stories and adventures, especially if they are recent or cross over into some of the countries I've been or loved most.
