About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Have fun, love with my whole heart, contribute to others, be honest, and breathe.
ABOUT ME
ME...I’m an open book – careful what you ask me; you’ll probably get the answer! I’m expressive and tend to hug the cook - or propose - after a great meal. In fact, I belong to the Edmonton chapter of “Free Hugs”, and donate liberally. People come to me for advice, knowing I’ll tell them the truth rather than just what they want to hear. I can get a group excited because I’m so enthusiastic. I love to sit in the front row. Laugh out loud. My adventurous nature took me to Japan to teach English. Made me buy a car with a standard transmission although I’d never driven one. Got a P.E. degree just because I wanted to try all the sports. I have a slightly dark sense of humor, but am more than capable of keeping it PG if necessary. Open to new ideas and differences: A Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist and an atheist walk into a bar – bad joke, right? – no, just my group of friends, following principles of love and respect. I don’t read the “bad news”, prefer to work on aspects of myself. I strive to be more conscious everyday.
PHILOSOPHY
I live to learn & grow. To be more conscious today, than I was yesterday is something I strive for. To BREATHE. Honesty in myself & those around me is a must. Learning to slow down and enjoy the journey instead of focussing on the end result. To BREATHE. Figuring out my part in attracting everything in my life, whether I see it as positive or negative. Changing what doesn't work for me. To BREATHE. Adding something to others lives, helping them smile. Allowing myself to feel my feelings. To BREATHE.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to CS. I am looking to meet locals that are part of CS so that I can learn about the community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Not Applicable as of yet as I'm brand new here...although my home growing up could have qualified to be part of Couch Surfing. We had someone on our couch and in the spare room for most of my childhood. I think I was the only kid who needed introductions to the people in my own home.
Oct 2011 Update...
To sum up my UK & Ireland trip...WOW!! I have never met so many like-minded, generous, loving people in a 2 1/2 mth period. I have so many amazing stories/memories and it's the couchsurfing hosts who made it possible for me to go beyond what I could have done all on my own. I only hostel'd it for 2 nights in that time and recommend this community to all my friends & family above all other types of accommodation. THANK YOU! oxoxoxox
Interests
Oh where to begin?
Sitting in the mall watching people walk by is a great afternoon. Having my nieces kick my butt in cards is priceless. A monthly potluck where a new group of friends shows up each time, makes for an interesting evening.
Playing Killer Bunnies with total strangers on a Saturday night, going to a movie by myself, sitting in the front row at the comedy club, or doing 2 back to back bike tours just to prove to myself that I can.
Anything goes...

Music, Movies, and Books
I read ONLY if it's not on CD! Bonus points if you know who John Maxwell, Alison Armstrong, & Dr. Gray are...Mars & Venus on a Date is in my top 3.
Movies, eh? Nothing scary, I have been known to scream out loud. I regularly cry in movies, heck, even during Hallmark commercials, so please don't laugh.
Music, eclectic. Eminem, Pink, Rihanna, trance, dance mix, top 40, classical, I love the variety. Don't ask me to endure too much country, jazz, or blues...or I may literally die.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It takes a village to raise a child.
I've seen a child grow into a teenager and use skills/concepts at her young age that took me decades to learn. I've never been happier or prouder to be part of the village.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a knack for really seeing a person, understanding what they are going through, and seeing the end of the tunnel. I am great at getting rid of baggage in order to move forward clean & clear.
A reason, A season, or A lifetime. Why am I in your life? Why are you in mine?
I want to learn how to slow down and just BE.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a great blow up mattress! It would be in the living room as I only have a one bedroom place.
The reason I like CouchSurfing is meeting people who I can learn about. I don't like feeling that I am being used as a hotel.
Please make any CouchSurfing requests personalized to me showing that you've read my profile. I don't accept general/cookie cutter requests. I prefer to share my space with someone who knows a bit about me, likes what they see, and thinks that we might be a "good fit" to spend some time together.
I only share my home with those that are verified and have at least 5 positive references and no negative ones.
Thank you.
