About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life, hang out with interesting people, and learn new stuff

ABOUT ME

I am an easy-going, friendly person who enjoys meeting and talking to new people. I like travelling but I prefer living at one place for some time and absorbing its atmosphere before moving on. I prefer quality to quantity when it comes to travelling. I have a wide variety of opinions on a wide variety of topics but I have always considered myself open-minded and emphatic enough to change a particular opinion of mine if it proves to hold me back from further personal development. I am still in the process of finding out what I really want from life so I have learned to be rather flexible and take things in stride.

Above all I am all for having a laugh. I generalise only when joking but that might be quite often actually. Sometimes I laugh at inappropriate jokes and sometimes I am tired of political correctness but I am not evil, I swear.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that people should treat other people in the way they want to be treated. I try not to get stressed out by things I cannot influence and always remember that we live now, not in the future nor in the past. I also think change is an important part of life and people shouldn't fear it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first came into contact with couchsurfing when my friend and I were staying over in Togo, West Africa, for a few days. Our hosts were excellent and we had a great time.

Interests

I enjoy all kinds of sports, currently mainly slacklining, but occasionally windsurfing, rock-climbing, or biking. I love history, especially Medieval European, and enjoy going to museums and checking out historical sights. I enjoy tasting local cuisine wherever I travel and exploring cultural differences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like movies with serious topics, but not over-dramatic and depressive. Among my favourite movies are Pulp Fiction, Three Kings, American Beauty, Into the Wild, Snatch and other Guy Ritchie's films, TV series like Red Dwarf, IT Crowd, How Not To live Your Life, Fresh Meat, Suits, the Wire, Game of Thrones

Music: all sorts

Books: as a kid, I used to read a lot of fantasy so I am a big fan of George RR Martin or Patrick Rothfuss. This year I've read McCarthy or Steinbeck.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done a lot of exciting things in my life and each of them was unique in their own way. Visiting South Africa; intense paragliding in Ghana; hitch-hiking in the US; or hiking and camping with my friends in Pálava, the Czech Republic, certainly belong among them.

Teach, Learn, Share

My biggest project currently is learning how to speak Spanish, so language practice is what I seek. Aside from that, I am into slacklining and more than willing to show you the rope...literally. In general, I am always keen on sharing personal stories.

Countries I’ve Visited

Countries I’ve Lived In
