About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm just a long haired Volvo drivin' shamefully arrogant uneducated loser with a very sick mind.
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Portland, OR USA. Graduated from High School in 2003. I've been working in radio since I was 16, doing everything from on air work to engineering. I attended college at MHCC in Oregon, and earned a degree in Radio Broadcasting. I worked for a year in Centralia, WA as a DJ. Now I'm back in Portland.
I'm also a big basketball and football fan. I'm a big fan of the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Browns. (My Dad is from Cleveland, if you wondered about the Browns.) I haven't missed a game in almost 20 years. (Has it really been that long?)
I'm also a big fan of all things surround sound, vintage (Quadraphonics) and new (DVD-Audio / SACD). To me, there is no better way to listen to music then on a good surround system.
PHILOSOPHY
Try anything once. It's a rule I tend to live by (with in reason of course.) I like trying things I haven't done before, from music to food.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's all about making connections. I've forged so many friendships and met so many people as a result of doing this... it has forever changed my life.
During the month of July, 2010, I went out on a cross-country journey from Portland, OR to New York, NY and back. It was a wonderful adventure.
I documented the trip on Super 8mm movie film. Now I have the task of putting together a film of some sort! I hope I have captured the complete couchsurfing experience, along with many good memories.
Of course when the film is done it will be posted somewhere on the web for all to see. With any luck, my experiences captured on film will encourage others to travel and to make friends along the way.
Now that I'm not traveling as much, I host a lot of folks here in Portland. I also play the role of "Tour Guide". I know the history of Portland pretty well, and love sharing it with visitors!

This has been the greatest thing I've ever done in my life! This experience has been completely positive!

Music, Movies, and Books
I like lots of music and movies. My favorite movie is probably Chaplin's "City Lights". My favorite band (at the moment) is Porcupine Tree.
Seen lots of cool concerts (well over 1500 at this point I'm sure). My favorite concert I've attended was Porcupine Tree at the Aladdin Theater in Portland on May 9th, 2007. That night of music changed my life forever.
Favorite "major" current touring band is probably Phish. (As of the moment, I've seen them 32 times, which is a low number in the world of Phish, I realize...) Steven Wilson is right up there too as a favorite (I've seen him 25 times at various venues around the world.) I typically try to see live music at least once a week, if not more frequently. My latest kick has been Jam bands / Prog Rock / Funk, though my record collection spans all genres dating back to the 1900s! (The oldest record I have is from 1908, in fact.)
Favorite "local" Portland bands are "The Mercury Tree" and "Mars Retrieval Unit".
My favorite book remains "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Attending the world premiere of the classic Kasvot Växt album titled "í rokk" on October 31st, 2018. I finally know what space smells like.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I know I share. I'm decent with a wrench, and know a lot about audio engineering. I have no idea how helpful that might be.
If you want to know anything about old Volvos, Super 8mm film, or Surround sound, I will give you an excellent education.
I love being a "tour guide" and if you stay with me in Portland, I will do my best to find time to show you around.
