ABOUT ME
i love meeting new people and experiencing the amazing exchange of culture and ideas.
i was very slow to set this up, but now i am ready. i am ready for you.
PHILOSOPHY
empathy
&
"yes, and.." [the fundamental rule in improvisational theater--- always say "yes" to what is in front of you, and through love and trust in yourself and others/your partners/team/friends/whatever, you mutually create the rest]
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
my roomies and i are avid travelers and enthusiastically host CSers. we are wholly committed to making our guests feel at home. and then, very soon, i will come crash with you!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
we've had a couple couchsurfers stay with us over the past few months, and each experience has been really great. i first heard of the project in college when a girl in my dept wrote her thesis on the international community that is "the couchsurfing universe." while i think her thesis left a lot to be desired, the concept was very sound. in life, ive always felt the closest to people who deeply enjoy traveling and feel like they belong to multiple places. it involves a shared mentality and set of values, which is why i think the CS project works so well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
i was hired to sing opera in times square a few years ago and it was surreal and amazing and unforgettable. my voice hit the ears of thousands of people at the same instant, floating around the buildings of that crazy, frenetic space. technically, i sang opera in times square before the met opera singers did. the goal is be back there : )
Teach, Learn, Share
as an opera singer, if you stay with us, you will hear me sing. a lot. and quite loudly. that in itself may be an education. i can also tell you about what is involved in terms of training/the life of an opera singer in america, and i'd LOVE to exchange notes on the place of the arts in other countries.
generally, anything related to culture in either an academic or practical sense, i'm here to teach and share! plus, underground music scene across genres in nyc. oh, and the non-profit world in nyc. i live in it.
